The Official and Only Halo 3 User-Created Gametypes/Maps Thread

In addition to our Files forums (located here), I'm creating a thread here on the Official Halo 3 Forum to serve as a catch-all for gametypes and map variants ONLY, that have been created by the community. The hope here is that this will be used as a resource and and archive of created games and map variants from the Community. This is NOT a place to discuss the quality of an author's work or offer suggestions, do that in the links the authors will provide for their gametype/map variants. This is ONLY for collecting the gametypes. Here's the format for posting, (I've bolded ONLY for the purpose of making the text stand out in this wall of text, please refrain from bolding in your posts) all posts in this thread that violate the post format will be deleted by the moderators. Rebound, a Re-imagination of Snowbound Designed with Symmetrical-arena style slayer play in mind, Rebound takes elements of Snowbound that previously turned the map into an interior camping battle, like the Shotgun, and awards both teams a Shotgun in their respective bases. Weapon sets have been made close to identical on both sides of Snowbound in an attempt to remove the tendency of players to crouch camp underneath. This map is ideal for 2-10 players. How to make these posts. 1. Create a gametype and map variant, upload these to your File Share. 2. Publish the Gametype and Map variants to the forums, save the links to those threads. 3. Create post in this thread, and link to the Map variant and Gametype at the Publish to Forums link here [this way players can easily click those links and download your gametypes. 4. Create a well-written explanation of changes made to the map and if necessary a description of the gametype you've created, including ideal number of players, number of teams (if necessary) and any other relevant information. Please write as clearly and coherently as possible. 5. Bungie will be watching this thread and using it as a resource for gametype creation from the community as well, all posts not relevant to the topic at hand will be removed and users potentially extinguished like torches in a monsoon. [Edited on 10.12.2007 1:55 PM PDT]

It is a small, crowded foundry variant that consists of two bases, red and blue, that quite different from normal Mlg maps. In the center stands a weird bridge and double box structure that i thought looked bad, but im not sure. Let me know what you think. This map can be played with oddball and slayer, making a fun, condensed 4v4, 3v3, or even 2v2 battlefield. This was practically my first slayer map ever, so dont be so hard. It has some minor flaws, but let me assure you, my next slayer map, which is almost complete is MUCH BETTER. - Jonezy

  • My First ever forge&gametype lol Explosive;A deadly Foundry! Used withExtreme Hammers I basically used an empty foundry and place floating explosive traps all over the map.Once you are in the area were the explosions are there is no going back. Game Rules: No Grenades and all you have is your trusty Gravity Hammer :). 2x over-shield to help compensate for the extra damage you will be taking from explosions. %150 Gravity. %200 Speed (so a sure death from explosions wont be %100) 2 Minutes Per Round (5 Rounds) 1 kill = 1 point 1 death = -1 point (toggle suicide if you like, currently -0) Goal = 3 points Best with 6-8 Players It's a fun little game to play and once you get a kill you'll be scrambling around to avoid explosions until your shields recharge, guaranteeing the loser in the fight won't get points from a falling explosion.Random soccer balls are just there to push in the field if you would like to. Have fun ;) [Edited on 06.20.2010 9:39 PM PDT]

  •

Basin X

Basin X is an Asymmetrical map located on the ground floor of Sandbox. It is multi-leveled, and very vertical. The map features nearly 5 stories of a creative mix between close-quarters combat, mid-range, and mid-long range. The map is designed well for 2v2,3v3, and up to a max of 6-7 players for FFA gametypes. Attackers spawn on the ground floor. They spawn right next to a Two-Way Teleporter Node which takes you to the uppermost floor and gives them first access to a Power Drain. They have access to a Gravity Hammer behind the pillars in front of them and can immediately start infiltrating the complex structure that is the Defender's base. Defenders spawn inside the main structure and have immediate access to a Man Cannon which takes you to the uppermost floor. They also have access to an Active Camo and Regen. Both teams have equal access to a Neutral Sniper, located on the Golden catwalks, which would be defined as the "Fourth Floor". The map features cramped hallways, vertical perches and catwalks, and extremely fast transportation between multiple levels. The uppermost floor only has two ways up, and it is the only way to make it to the fourth floor. From the fifth floor, players can get down by dropping from one of two gaps in the floor. There is one large gap in the middle which allows players to drop onto the fourth, third, or first floors. There is also another gap players can drop down which takes them into a hidden hallway which you could consider as being the second floor. As you can read, it is a fairly complex map. Let's show you some screenshots of what the map looks like so you can get a better understanding.
Screenshots
-Bottom Floor looking up at the golden catwalks, aka fourth floor -First Floor -Defender's Spawn -Active Camo Spawn -Gravity Hammer Spawn -Hallway around Regen Room -Top floor (NOTE: The top floor is slightly different in the actual map. That middle pillar is now gone, the BR moved against a wall, and the middle gap is opened up more) -Gold Catwalks (NOTE: Power Drain is located on the Top floor now on the actual map. Sniper is located off-screen at the bottom of the screenshot) The pictures don't really do you justice, as a vast majority of the map is enclosed and it is hard to get good enough screenshots for yout o capture the whole map.
Weapon Loadout
Basin X features: -6 Battle Rifles (30 sec) -1 Assault Rifle (30 sec) -2 Carbines (30 sec) -2 Maulers (120 sec) -1 Gravity Hammer (120 sec) -1 Sniper (120 sec) -2 SMGs (30 sec) -3 Spikers (30 sec) -2 Needlers (45 sec) -1 Plasma Pistol (90 sec) -1 Active Camo (180 sec) -1 Regen (120 sec) -1 Power Drain (120 sec) -4 Frag Grenades (30 sec) -6 Plasma Grenades (30 sec)
Download Basin X
Gametypes that work best Good ol' Slayer works best on this map. Oddball is also a gametype recommended, but more for FFA gametypes. FFA Slayer, FFA Swords, Juggernaut all would work well. Team Snipers would also probably work well. 1 Flag CTF is recommended if you choose to play CTF. Not sure how 2 Flag CTF would work. NOTE about Flag: The CTF spawns are very different than any map you may be used to, and this makes it especially tricky for both teams. The Defender's Flag spawns in the Regen Room. the Attackers must grab the Flag, make it to the top floor, fall down onto the fourth floor and take the flag to the capture point on the fourth floor. It is done this way because it is the longest route players can take, and makes gameplay longer and more crazed. It is a much better setup than having it placed at Defender's spawn and having to bring it to in front of the teleporter node. That'd make games end way too fast.

  • A couple of mine on file share: The Ruze: An abandoned warehouse turned into a training facility, this is a close quarters marathon great for helping with radar tracking and corner fighting. This was my first map, and it's pretty straightforward: it's a maze. Built for anything from four to 12 players (comfortably), it works best on slayer, juggernaut, koth and oddball matches, but it is not designed for any CTF type games. Be aware, with super speed and jump, you might be able to reach parts of the map which are not designed to be reached. I'm the Ziggurat: Ah, the joys of ancient, crumbling structures. A pyramid-type map, it's pretty well balanced in layout and is fairly symetrical. Weapon spawns are plenty, and the confins can be tight, so keep your guard up. This map is pretty fast and quick in combat, and does well to support multiple teams, though it can feel a bit hectic and overcrowded with more than 8 players. It comes in three main zones: a lower level with lots of tight confines and attack patterns; an upper level which is more open and includes a nice sword spawn at it's peak; and a no-mans land outer ring, which includes two nearly hidden sniper spawns which can be used for great effect. Beau: Vehicles, vehicles, vehicles. The towering confines, winding paths and many vehicle spawns makes this map a great time for large team conflicts. Comfortably supports over 16 players! Don't underestimate the ground game, though. Between a large variety of rockets, random teleporters for instant access to higher vantages, convenient turret locations and a centralized pod launcher, players on foot can still cause a lot of destruction. But nothing is better than you and a friend sporting warthog colors and outmaneuvering the deadly birds in the sky!

  • QuadLaserSniper. See the full details at the Download Page. Mongooses, Spartan Lasers, and Sniper Rifles. Teams of 2, VIP drives and the other player shoots from the back of the mongoose. This is NOT escort, earn points by getting kills. 4 rounds of 3 minutes each. Players switch roles between Driver and Shooter each round. The game type actually makes it difficult to cheat (shoot while on foot) by using Influential VIP. You do 0% damage unless you are really close to your driver (i.e. on the back of his mongoose) I've set up just about every map that is fun to drive a mongoose on with spawns and teleporters that make it REALLY easy to access a mongoose. These maps are included in this game variant's file set and can also be accessed from Predator XVIII's file share. This is a map I spent some time on call Temple. Has a structure in the middle, with a section underneath that you can walk under as well as fight. Has vehicles, and also you can walk around on one level of the temple. Link to Download I would also love to play in any custom games of anyone who downloads this map and likes it. I do not have many Halo 3 friends to custom games it up, I just make maps in my free time.

  • Could you bring that one map from Halo PC that had the crashed sip back and add vehicles that only belong to the map. And could you change the FFA colors a bit by adding green and/or gold to it.

  • http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=95270473 Maze is a map built in the sky on sandbox. It is meant to be a symmetrical team slayer map. It includes rockets, tunnels, and a maze leading to the middle of the map. The map also features a grav lift the provides quick access to the other side of the map. There are banshees on each side and there are sniper rifles too. This map can include both close quarters and long range combat. The map was meant for slayer with 8-16 players, but can be used for CTF or assault. EDIT: I changed the map around a little, I removed some power weapons and placed most in different positions. Also, I added banshees that spawn after two minutes, and tried to make the map more balanced. The new version is on my fileshare. [Edited on 06.21.2010 3:30 PM PDT]

  • Map-Fly Paper Named for the trap in the middle of the map that can stick a player to the wall (if you play the map you'll find it soon enough), Fly Paper is ideally made For CTF, but it plays well with any gametype. This map has two bases: the Blue base is more defended, but more accessible; while the Red base is more exposed, but trickier to enter without notice. Inbetween the bases, walls are set up to provide cover against turret fire; and to hide a few weapons to help with the base storming. Of course, both bases have Man-Cannons so that more impatient players can simply rush the bases. Now the Red base Man-Cannon is a little trickier to use. If used correctly, it launches you directly into the Blue base. If used incorrectly, it launches you into the aforementioned trap. The Red base also contains the Flamethrower which can be used to either defend the base, or send a flaming wire spool into the Man-Cannon; launching it either into the Blue base or splattering any unfortunate players stuck to the paper. I have played this map with a few friends, but have yet to see how this map plays with a large number of people, so any feedback is appreciated. Leave any feedback, comments, and suggestions for a possible Fly Paper V2.0 in the comments section of the map. And feel free to look at the other maps, screenshots, and videos in my fileshare. • Well, first I would just like to express my joy at having Bungie Pro, I can now place a ton of my content into my fileshare, finally! Second, I would like to show you my newest map, which you should love. Alright, let's talk gametype. Phobia - This gametype pits strong, but all too mortal, humans, against resilient and numerous zombies. Humans can take 5 hits, yes 5, but don't go off on a rant just yet. No shield recharge. None. No radar. Limited Ammo. Not much to live on. After your shields are flashing red, assuming you don't take consecutive hits, you will still have 2 hits left permitting you let your health (not your shields! Once those are gone they stay gone!) recharge, because I cannot turn that off. Humans have a shotgun and pistol, but there are weapons on the map to accommodate you, but ammo is scarce. You may pick up a zombie's sword, but know that you will not be able to fend of more than one at once, and every duel costs you valuable shields. Zombies are actually pretty strong, they can take a shotgun blast at relatively good range, and more than one sniper bullet, which humans do have. The good news for the humans is that zombies are slightly slower than normal, and you are slightly faster, so the creeping hordes really come much slower at you. Bear in mind though that much of this map has closed spaces and corners. Alright, now to the map. I'll give a description of the weapons first. None of the weapons EVER respawn. Once they are gone they are gone. Humans, you should share and stick together unless you like the feeling of your brains being eaten. Zombies can sense you at all times, even if you crouch, the only problem being that they won't know which level you're on. Basement opens at 1 minute, and the roof opens at 2 minutes. Rounds are 5 minutes each and there are 5 rounds. Weapons (all have 0 additional clips): BR x 7 (takes 6 shots to kill a zombie, two in basement, 3 on main level, two on roof) Shotgun x 3 (one shot at relatively close range, two on main level, one in basement) Rockets x 2 (one shot, but if you are too close they will hurt you too, and you don't get your shields back, zombies do, both in basement) Laser x 1 (one shot, takes time, have friends handy, in the basement) Sniper x 2 (two shots to the body, I'm not sure about headshots, both on the roof) Missile Pod x 1 (direct hit is a one hit kill, one on the roof) Assault Rifle x 2 (both on main floor) SMG x 2 (both on main floor) Magnum x 2 (both on main floor) The map should play will with 6-12 players, but 8-10 is the most ideal range. I will explain each picture in detail. Overview 1 Here you can see the human start spawn, it's the ramp off on the right, the zombie start spawn is opposite this. There is also a door visible on the ground floor on the most exposed face, which leads to the basement, and a gravity chute, where man cannons spawn to shoot zombies to the top. As a quick note there are three entrances to every level, except the middle, which has 5 (two that aren't open at the beginning of the round). Main Floor, Death Zone This part is on the main floor, looking straight into the hallway that leads from the zombie spawn out from the weapons room, the indoor basement entrance is in the room to the left. You are looking from the weapon room. This part is particularly dangerous for humans, because there are so many places to get attacked from in this middle intersection. Basement and Roof Entrances You are looking from the basement entrance to the roof entrance, which is where a man cannon spawns at 2 minutes to lift you to the roof. It spawns in the room with the teleporters, which are only used to identify it, one of the two teleporters is visible. Overview 2 You can now see the zombie start spawn (on the right), the side entrance (the ramp on the side facing you), one basement entrance, and one gravity chute. The Roof This is simply the roof, admire the weapons and the hardwood floors, bloodstains not included. Basement This is a picture of the basement, that tube on the right is the mechanism that opens the basement door, and part of the weapon rack that holds the rockets and laser. There is a shotgun off camera to the left. If you've read this far not only do you deserve a cookie, but I bet you want to kill me. Here's the map and gametype link. • I haven,t put it up yet but Laser Tag I made a game variant and a Map Lazer Tag- There is a blue team and a red team on either side of the map, noted by the blue light and red light. Everyone gets plasma pistols. There is no heath and you take a lot of damage every time you get hit. You can melee but it takes the fun out of it. There are many slots where you can "snipe" with the plasma pistol. Points will be extremely high so the only way to win is to have the highest score. Time will be also high as well. I shall post the game variant and map up shortly.

Fight for the two middle teleporters that will give you a fighting advantage (weapon depot and sniper tower overlooking the middle making it easier to guard the two teleporters. Game type: this can be played on slayer, team slayer, infection, capture the flag, etc. you can also make your own game-type (change player stats.) copyright: your allowed to do any thing to this map i don't care. change stuff around. (there is to many object in the game so your gonna have to delete stuff). you don't have to mention my name at all. download link: http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=108112077 Hope you enjoy it note: my first map

  • The Blender V1 It may not be the nicest looking map, but me and my friends today and yesterday had sooo much fun on it, so I shall now share it with you guys. (Don't rate until you play, the map isn't as sexy as it is fun. Map+Gametype: The Blender V1 Gametype, Spinning Death Screenshots: Overview+Human Spawn Zombie Platform Start First Person View in the Blender Basically, it's a giant circle fulla mancannons with fusion coils spawning every 10 seconds. The zombie can also push items into the blender such as metal wire spools and dumpsters. The Blender is so much random fun, you never know who will win! :D If you fly up high enough somehow, you can stop the ravenous zombie from killing your friends! (not by design) Trust me, fusion coils are nessecary, it's a big blender. Also, Ask One Shot Kill too if you don't believe me, but the Ghost merging tricks stopped working after we merged the majority of the map. So some of the stuff couldn't be merged. It's alot of fun, give it a quick download, and expect random deaths and SMG'ing the Wire spools the zombie can drop on you back at him! (I found this out by accident lol) Please, Download now, not many people DL my stuff, my most DL'd item is my Happy Face screenshot. Thanks for viewing, and hope you like it. P.S. The Zombie Start Screenshot is missing some stuff at the top because most of it was pushed in. :P

  • --- Credit for for Gauntlet and Gauntlet Ball goes to " ACTlON SACK " and " Action Sac Hero "--- - - - - - - - Map - Gauntlet - - - - - - - The goal with Gauntlet was to create a well rounded map specifically tailored to enhance Action Sack as a playlist. The map itself was designed with mostly every kind of player in mind. Team objective supported with snipers and swords to start out. Grenades on map. My main objective is geared towards seeing this used in matchmaking, so feel free to modify it for that purpose. This map is ideal for 6-8 players. (Please remember that this is my first real map...EVER) - - - - - - - Screenshots - The full scape of Gauntlet Front view of Main base Bottom view of main base Game - Gauntlet Ball - - - - - - - This game was specifically made for Action Sack to utilize all elements from the playlists assortment of games. Two teams immediately fight for control of one oddball. Two rounds, one minute each. The carrier is sent through a whirlwind teleportation system. While being fired upon by the opposing team. No suicide penalties, mainly because of the high risk of falling. Carrier cannot cause damage while holding the ball. - - - - - - - Please take into consideration that this game type and map were designed specifically for a particular playlist. Also...please feel free to msg my XBL is " ACTlON SACK " (with a lower case l for an I) if you have any questions or comments. Thanks!

  • Blood Gulch A "remake" of the popular map from Halo:CE. The map is very open and vehicle heavy. The Red and Blue bases are very similar to that of the real Blood Gulch. To honor Halo 2, some elements from Coagulation have also been included. The caves and cliffside are slightly different but hold the same purpose. Good for Team Slayer and CTF. Garden Ridge Close quarters map. Everything surrounds a central field holding an energy sword. Catwalks are the main means of transport. A Banshee sits on a platform (similar to that from Assension) and is equally distant from both bases. Good for Slayer. CLASSIFIED Vehicle baised map (warthogs, mongooses, ghost) themed entirely on the conflict between Red and Blue armies (the Blue Army was in a ship, got to close to a hidden Red base, Reds shot them down, they fight). Red Team has a base imbedded within the sand. The base includes a balcony, rooftop, and vehicle spawn. Blue Team's main "base" is their crashed ship. The ship offers great cover and has quick access to most elements on the map. Weapons and vehicles are equalliy balanced. Satellite dish room in the far corner of the map (between Red and Blue bases) has a rocket launcher and will most likely be a point of interest during battle. Good for Team Slayer and Territories. Temple-O-Fun Asymmetrical map. Close quarters. Catwalks connect buildings and central structure. Central structure is a "hub" that connects all the catwalks together. It is a four way elevator that will land you on any of the four catwalks connected. Good for Slayer and CTF. Acid Rain Double sided hill with building on top. Falling objects from skybubble pelt the map as you advance up the hill. Objects can and WILL kill you. Objective is to be the first to the top the most times. Good with King of the Hill.

  • ASCENT- Sandbox map built in the air. Symmetrical aerial combat map with a fortress, 2 hornets, 2 banshees, and plenty of anti air defense on each side. Ideal for 8-16 players Slayer or CTF. Kind of a "Blood Gultch" in the sky if I may say. :) ASCENT [Edited on 06.07.2010 10:58 PM PDT]

  • File name: RingsofMissiles Intended name: Rings of Infinite Missiles Gametype: RingsofMissiles Map variant: RingsofMissiles Now I know that I wasn't the first person to discover this, but I was feeling bored and I decided to make this anyways. Now this map is intended for fun, not combat. It is a map setup for the Ring of Missiles glitch except in place of the Warthog is a Hornet. Since the Hornet has a unique shape, you can make more than 1 ring of missiles. When you spawn, you will see four Missile Pods. As soon as you use one up and drop it, it will respawn immediately. The gametype is just for safety measures (i.e. invunerable, indestructible vehicles). Other than that, I merely increased the speed to 300%.
