NBA player Gilbert Arenas cheating at Halo 3

Cheater Look at all his games that he gets 1st place in. He joins up with a friend and has his other account quit out so he gets 1st place every time. How can this be allowed? My last words on this subject Live 08 sucks<<<<<<<<<2k8.... •
Posted by: Faded "Gils actions put his and many other reputations at risk. Bad judgment call on his part! Didn't Gil come straight out of HS? Pattern?" ROFL, put his reputation at risk to who? A bunch of nerdy gamers who most likely haven't even seen a game of NBA? LOL, I doubt he'd care. Gilbert's fame really grew during the summer. And I doubt he'd lose even a third of his fanbase just because he "cheated" in H3 (which he recently talked about in his latest blog posted today), at the end of the day, outside of this message boards, nobody really cares. And LOL, who's the dumbazz that said he takes roids? I hope you're sarcastic because EVERYONE knows Gil's got to where he's at out of hardwork, the guy's basically the face of Adidas' Campaign "Nothing is Impossible". Do research before you post ranodm -blam!-. PS: MC187, Congrats, Gilbert mentioned u in his Blog! ROFL. He humiliated you, but hey, u got mentioned in his BLOG! You must be so damn proud of yourself. ROFL Well damn, I'd rather stay quiet than having a NBA star talk ill of me. "And MC187, you get the bonus prize. This is your five days of fame. PTI picked it up and now I'm mentioning you in my blog. This is the only way you're going to get famous because it's not going to be through Halo. I looked at your rank, you aren't very good. You might not be skilled at the game, but I know what your skill is -- looking at everybody else's accounts to see who's cheating. So keep it up baby, I'm rooting for you. " http://www.nba.com/blog/gilbert_arenas.html Props to gil for firing back to you. Not many stars would even care about some nobodies badmouthing them, but Gilbert actually did. You're (in)famous now, only for a couple days/weeks but still. xD
Oh I know, Arenas is such a better person then the rest of us? He can shoot hoops, and he's famous and makes lots of money. I attribute this kind of talk to all the Zombie Americans out there. They cling onto anything shiny and think they're apart of it. It's apparent that Arenas doesn't give a damn about his fan base. Why would you call out just one guy on your blog? He is of course famous. Which means, his blog could do a lot more damage to one person than a hundred here on bnet. Again another act of cowardice. Why just not apologize, or just skate around the issue? Instead he says, I'm cheating, you suck and I don't care, also blame the 10 year old that told me how to do it. It's that kids fault. Yet here you are acting like you're big pals with him because you see him on TV. This thread became more than just a report about a cheater. It became a thread to argue what cheating is, and where we should draw the line, in gaming and in life. So many people like you on this thread can't comprehend what that means because you're blinded by the flashy lights on TV. What really makes a real hero, or idol, isn't how good you are at putting down j's. It's how you conduct yourself, how you treat other people, it's the intangibles that you carry with you. It is obvious that Mr. Arenas has a problem with this issue. How many people in his situation do charity because if they didn't the news would rip him a new one? Even in your life, there is probably one person who just continues to give, and after a while you have to think, is this person being truly generous or is this person making them self feel better. The later would be selfish. Now I'm not here to say that I hate him, or that he should die, or be perma banned. I'm saying that all this boosting is cheating, and all cheaters not just Arenas should have the same consequences. His conduct even in this minute incident really would make me call into question his character as a person. Before you start yelling, it's not just from the boosting, it's what happened after. Now he will try to start another wave with people like you to take his side, it's simple human nature to protect who you are. I find it funny that all the little automatons that keep coming in here and posting outrageous comments. Like I care if you call me a nerd, or to get a life. What is Arenas anyways? He just a dude who entertains the people in the world that do the real work. It's not his money, it's our money he's giving away anyways. It's his fans money who pay him. People like you forget this, and obviously wouldn't come up with it yourself. To the people who would be really hurt by his conduct is MLG. I don't have an opinion about them, but it seems they already have a bad rap for being arrogant in the gaming industry. This only furthers that image. No, this blog is less about Arenas, and more about life. That's what you can't comprehend, and unfortunately the internet has given you a way to manifest this frustration.

 • It's a great idea if you like cheap EXP, but I can't say that they are fully legitimate points.

 • I'm still kind of frustrated that Bungie tolerates EXP. boosting... it's still a rank that should be displayed correctly.

 •
Posted by: Groove Regulator
Posted by: lukems I'm unlocking this, because I think it's hilarious that an NBA player cheats at Halo.
So what if he did. Gilbert Arenas makes more money than you could ever hope to make Lukems. He also plays with the greatest team in Halo, Final Boss, and sponsors them. So -blam!- off, you're just jealous that he has friends in high places. I really don't like you anymore. You're an immature jerk. Go ahead and block my communication, I have nothing more to say to you.
I am amazed how you call him immature when your post is immature itself. Where exactly do you get this stuff. Luke finds it funny for the same reason the rest of us do. A pro basket ball player who has to use actuall skill in his job cheats at a video game.

 • Oh wow. WHO CARES? Leave him alone. He paid for the game, let him do what he wants. You want to be going after the people standby-ing, not people in a game where THEY have an agreement. My point is, if you boost matches to get to top rank, you'll simply get owned by people who got there legit if you're no good. Just cause he plays basketball for a living doesn't need a 50 page thread. I suggest this thread is locked, it is totally pointless and becoming very childish. [Edited on 10.13.2007 12:38 AM PDT]

 • I think what makes it funny that he cheats at Halo is the fact that he makes that much money and sponsor a Final Boss team... how can you use that against Lukems when that's what he finds funny? Groove, you need to lay off.

What should I be like, “I know you lost, but I’m not going to take this win, sorry.”
No you should be like, "I'll get the XP myself, since I play 14 hours a day and I can still get XP from ranked anyway." • So, as you guys know it was mentioned in the update and Bungie has stepped up and givin a warning to all cheaters. I hope you guys don't take their lack-of-care on the Exp. boosting issue to heart, why can't we just have a correct EXP. ranking people? What is the point of boosting it? I thought only little kids did that, but Gilbert has shed new light on that...

 • First he says hes not cheating, and forms of cheating are modding your xbox, standby stuff, and glitching. Then he goes on to say that.... "I had already won 216 games legitimately when I heard about this glitch. It’s not like I’m not playing all the time." So he refers to the social doubles boost as a glitch, and glitching as cheating, but not what hes doing as cheating. What an idiot. [Edited on 10.12.2007 9:46 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: ZeroHour7 My favorite line from his blog, "You should be mad at that kid for giving me the victory. Don’t be mad at me for accepting the victory."
that's what I found most laughable in his "blog". He quaintly passes the blame to the kid (to which he GAVE swag to learn how to do it), and implies that he was "helpless" in his cheating. He then says we should be mad at his "friend" for helping him artifically boost his rank. what's that saying? "...takes two to tango"? This kid (and by kid I mean GA), is attempting to use his position of power to defer any blame of his wrong-doing. wait a second...ahh yes, politicians do the same thing. I say GA for prez '08! /sarcasm so now is it not only proper to cheat, it's now OK to pass the blame.

 • This is a funny thread. Personally, I dunno if this guy is any good at Halo (he claims to be), and I don't care. But, it's safe to say that he felt the need to post a several thousand word blog trying to justify his actions, and that speaks louder than any of the words he typed. My favorite line from his blog, "You should be mad at that kid for giving me the victory. Don’t be mad at me for accepting the victory." LOL [Edited on 10.12.2007 7:23 PM PDT]

NICE BUST DUDE! **EDIT** Here is an online link that discusses this story that everyone may find quite interesting to spend 3-5 minutes reading. •
Posted by: zentex
Posted by: ichiro to senro So, no, this (Pete Rose) is not victimless.
actually it is. Just like Identity Theft is considered a "victimless" (yet we all know different) and thus how can his actions be considered "victimless"?
Umm, dogs are tortured, executed, and put up against each other.. And no one was hurt?
Dogs, are animals. No one (human) was hurt. When they put dogs against people, then someone was hurt. But they didn't.
Somehow, I don't think boosting his own experience in Halo 3 is a federal crime.
I said nothing about federal crime and his current actions. I merely used examples of where "no one was hurt" (which is how he equates his actions) to you agreeing that if no one gets hurt, then it's OK.
And now you claim to be a victim, stopping short of saying you were traumatized by the whole event.
No, you assume I claim to be one. I simply stated that because of his actions, being he is high profile, everyone else will get it in their head that it's OK to do this and artificially inflate their service rank without fear of repercussions, Thus making me suspect of everyone's service rank.
All I know is, if you think dogfighting, gambling, and such is the same as glitching on Halo 3, you've really gotta fix your priorities.
