I beat Sierra 117 with Normal and Easy to see how big of a difference it was in scoring. I had all the skulls on in Easy with a total multiplier score of 25X and only got 14.5k points. In Normal, I had all the skulls but iron and black eye with a total multiplier of 19.5x and got 50k+ points. So, to summarize, Easy is not worth the time to get that 15k or 50k you need. I almost always play with Mythic, Catch and Thunderstorm on. It's more fun to avoid all the flying grenades, plus almost every enemy you kill drops two grenades so I never run out. the only problem is hunters can be a real PITA with Mythic turned on.

Anyone who can play solo on Legendary with Iron, Blind and Black Eye (also combined with other skulls) need not prove himself a man in any other way (unless they are a woman, that is). I play two player co-op, and even though I avoid Iron, Blind and Black Eye on Legendary, I still end up questioning whether those Brute heroes can be killed at all...

I use Tough Luck, Catch, Thunderstorm, Famine, Mythic, Fog, Grunt Birthday Party, Cowbell and IWHBYD just for the comic relief you need it with all these Skulls and on solo! Cowbell has to be my favorite though makes those Kamikaze grunts a little tougher...and more amusing. ~~All on Herioc [Edited on 10.31.2007 10:53 AM PDT]

Would you guys recommend using cowbell? Is it worth having bigger explosions from your stuff versus getting bigger explosions near you? Because if I have catch on, do I want all those explosions near me? I can't imagine it being worth it, especially since I don't even get a multiplier from it.

My favorite combo on Normal is:: Tough Luck, Famine, Fog, Thunderstorm, Mythic on normal (add catch on Cortana and Halo just because I'm such a cheap bastard) It feels kind of like playing somehting between Heroic and Legendary where grenade kills are almost impossible at long ranges and where you have half the ammo to kill opponents with twice the health.

No matter what skulls you put on in missions 5 and 8 (Floodgate and Cortana), turn on the Catch skull. The Flood can't throw grenades, so you get a free score multiplier.

I've been playing the campaign on Legendary with the Tough Luck, Catch, Famine, Tilt, Mythic, Thunderstorm, IWHBYD, Grunt Birthday Party, and Cowbell skulls turned on. The game has become incredibly difficult, with each multi-brute encounter playing out like a harder version of the second hangar bay in Halo 2. For the barracks battle, I had to stockpile over a dozen plasma pistols and several battle rifles to take out everyone except the chieftain. After eliminating everyone else in the room, I just ran away from the chieftain into the next hallway. Fortunately, he didn't follow me down the shaft. The Tsvao Highway encounter with the Wraith featured over 14 brutes! There was no way I would have gotten out of that encounter alive, as there wasn't enough ammo to go around. I was able to avoid the battle, however, by walking along the hill to the right of the buildings. I jacked a Wraith on the final two battles on the highway, which made completing the mission fairly easy. [Edited on 10.11.2007 1:55 PM PDT]

I like to use catch, grunt birthday party, fog,IWHBYD but my favorite combo is cowbell, catch, fog, grunt birthday party. all the skulls are fun to use.

If you just want the achievements, play normal and put on iron, famine and fog. For a killer challenge put on Mythic and Tilt and play legendary. Doesn't really matter what other skulls you put on cause you're going to die hundreds of times with just these two. I got to the latter part of Tsavo highway before I gave up, for now. Basically all you can do is zap with the plasma pistol and go for the headshot.

I like using a core set of skulls and then adding others to change it up. Famine- makes every shot count Catch- makes you quick on your feet Mythic- come on you gotta give the bad guys a chance Thunderstorm- also give the baddies a chance Fog- make the feel much more real. it also makes you rely on you surround sound more Those are the Gold but if I want to kick it up even more I add some Silver Cowbell- makes the Catch skull and the little Joe Montana grunts into a serious force to be reckoned with. Lots of grenades with lots of bang Grunt B-day Party- makes you head shots apparent and also gives you a little bang for you buck IWHBYD- just for the comic relief. I went through Normal Mode Solo... With the 2-6 skull turned on and did completely fine on all the mission with points... Turn the last 3 silver skulls on for some extra fun! :) And grab those BR's and make every headshot count :)

I Love playing with the Grunt Birthday Skull on. I laugh so hard when i here "BOOM Yay!" multiple times in a row.

Hmmm cool. Will have to try the heroic recommendations lolz (got no chance on legendary I don't think atm) but anyhow good stuff....I personally have been throwing all the gold skulls on (except for the tilt skull) on "Easy" (Feel free to call me a noob *whimper*) but yeah....anyhow I don't know about the higher difficulties but for easy my fave skull is the black eye skull. Great combo with Famine coz you're saving ammo by meleeing which replenishes you're shield...but yeah I'm sure you all know that so yeah....peace...

i usualy turn on mythich thunderstorm and sometimes tilt for the extra challenge but my fav is turning on the silver skull grunt b day hearing shildren say YAY!!!! after getting a headshot on a grunt gives u a lil satisfaction and the confetti is just gr8 makes u wanna get a head shot and say crap now i have like 2 brutes to take down after that just had to get the headshot lol

What I'd really like to see is extra achievements added to give you points for beating the game with certain skulls on, and also for beating campaign by yourself. Or at least show it on your service record so people can see how badass you are.

I used the iron and catch skulls on the storm and the 50 cal warthog was blown up too easily

I like the skulls it adds challenge to the campaign, but sometimes not enough when I read thunderstorm it was supposed to promote everyone so i thought sweet no more grunts just gold brutes and cheiftens. But was disappointed I would like to see more of a challenge on the campaign in the future i have played halo since it came out the campaign was too easy. Hopefully when you update Halo 3 you will have more campaign content and more skulls to look for. Btw please inform the community to whither or not we are able to get more armor than what has currently been found.

My perfect Heroic skull combo: [b] Grunt Birthday Party [/b]: It helps make headshots clear, with or without scoring. [b] Fog [/b]: Not having a radar won't kill you. Unless it's in multiplayer with cloaking... [b] Famine [/b]: I somehow find a way around losing ammo constantly. [b] Thunderstorm [/b]: It's not too hard, gives a multiplier, and the base points for kills are higher. [b] Tough Luck [/b]: I always get around the enemy diving. ALWAYS. [b] Catch [/b]: Grenades are cool. [b] IWHBYD [/b]: Why not? If I'm feeling lucky, I'll either add [b] Mythic [/b] or add [b] Mythic [/b] and remove [b] Famine. [/b] The skull combination above has gotten me all of the meta-game score achievements. Reason I left out the other 5: [b] Iron [/b]: I'm playing on solo. Not a good idea. [b] Black Eye [/b]: If I'm getting shot at and my shields go down by sniper, I'm screwed. [b] Tilt [/b]: I'm not spending my time looking for the (almost) only weapon to use against brutes. [b] Cowbell [/b]: Billions of plasma greandes coming at me + Billions of spike greandes coming at me + big explosions = Dead Master Chief [b] Blind [/b]: I like to see what I'm doing, especially when not seeing doesn't give me more points. Most of the time i use the skulls: Iron, Catch, (sometimes) Famine, Cowbell and Grunt Birthday. But playing with iron can really be tough, sometimes i almost finished a level and get killed at the end, after 3 times i can get really irretated.

Fog is useless in the later levels. My radar gets painted red anyway.
