IWHBYD Pathway revealed?
Ok, i think I know how to get it, or at least start us off in the right direction, but its extremely complicated:
Ok, at the very beginning of "The covenant", run past the enemies and aim your spartan laser at the anti-air wraith tank. Shot it dead so that the Hornet that spawns flys around in a large circle. Proceed to kill the enemies around you.
Next, when all the enemies are dead, equip yourself with two plasma pistols. Here's where it gets hard. You must time your shot correctly so that the hornet falls closest to the canyon wall. I was able to do it once. On the second try now, very difficult.
When your charged shot hits the hornet, the hornet should power down and begin decending. continue firing charged shots at it so that it does not repower.
When it hits the ground (it needs to hit the ground as if it were landing), jump onto its roof. If you do not do this, then the hornet will flip itself and you will die. You cannot enter the cockpit, you must be on the roof.
Now, the hornet should fly upwards if you shot it at the right spot. It will fly above the canyon wall which you shoudl now jump on. Upon jumping on the canyon wall go right. This is as far as I got. I went left which turned out to be the wrong way to go, causing me to do it again!
You cannot shoot the driver out of the cockpit, and the hornet ALWAYS spawns. There is never a time when it does not. I am currently doing it on normal difficulty.

Just as a side note... I was able to get up to a nearby section of the canyon wall (by the waterfall) by grenade jumping onto the roof of the Pelican that drops you off at the very beginning of the level. It takes off quickly, though, so you have to be fast to get on top of it. I explored a bit but got annoying with the invisible walls/ceilings.

NEW INFO! Ok, after checking around a couple times and grenade jumping I made it over the mountain. I hopped over the mountain and made it all the way to the lift (the first tower), without Keyes telling me to go press it. There was no dramatic music or anything! The skull in the code was placed right before the first lift buttong I had to press. Even better, was that when sneaking into the underground door, the Prowlers (brute transporters) despawned and the one brute I had to face (without sniping) had no armor on for no reason. Is it possible that I have to get all the way there without causing keyes to tell me where to go? We shall see soon enough! Also to note, if you are following in my footsteps and bypass keyes telling you where to go, do not get into any vehicle AT ALL! This will trigger her orders. Also, do not board any vehicle. You myst simply run all the way to the tower, and use the sniper rifles supplied to you next to the first set of ghosts you encounter.

It was said that the skull is hidden in ways we cant imagine, anyone think it has to do with an important character like the Prophet of Truth? Maybe you have to do something with his corpse like push it somewhere or hit it through all 7 of the halos...? I wish I could look but its late and I have school tomorrow...but if its not found in 13 hours I'll help in the search [Edited on 09.27.2007 1:13 AM PDT]

I, like everyone else, other than those who work at Bungie, have only seen the code. Other than that we have nothing to go on. Even then the code could be fake, doctored, etc. At any rate this is a greater lead than any. Im done for tonight and then Ill start again tomorrow. Some things I noticed that I never checked out: - When you jump down the waterfall, after avoiding your objective and coming to the area with the normal wraith tank and numerous ghosts, I jumped in the water and noticed 3 large yellows dots sitting still on my radar. I thought my teammates had spawned, but in reality these were fish. I didnt think to shoot them until i finished turning off the tower. When i returned, there were no fish there. I haven't seen fish anywhere else. Ill have to check it out tomorrow but shooting the fish seems like a plan. I know this is long and sounds stupid, but its as good a lead as any. If you dont feel like doing this level, work on Halo. There were a lot of ledges and crevices during the warthog run. Its a little easier to work on.

my thought was that it was somplace that was never thought of looking in, the places I thought of were around the island with the hornet( after deactivating the first tower) and also I don't even kno if it is the same lvl at the moment but near the prophet of truth i haven't explored these options yet because my gf is hogging my 360 lol

Here's the code for those of you seeking at least some kind of proof for it. Again this could be doctored, etc. etc. And to ShadowHerb, you can simply look it up. There are numerous posts debunking that perticular one and Im not going to bother posting it when I have some "zzzz's" to catch. http://halo3planet.com/images/IWHBYD-Skull.jpg there's the "code". The original name for "The Covenant" level was "Citadel" and was changed before release. As you can see the thunder skull is in there as well.

Ok so far i've gotten inthe first tower, but every time I get close to the lift. Keys starts telling me to take the tower down, but no music to go along with it.

If you have nothing to contribute get out and the rest of us will look, then you can look at the video someone posts on how to get the skull in The Covenant and use our hard work to get YOUR skull and you can feel like a jackass for trying to discourage everyone.

That skull on Cortana is a duplicate Blind skull put there for some unknown reason. It's not the IWHBYD skull.
