Weekly What's Update

Nothing to write home about this week, but a few useful snippets nonetheless. We discuss a sad but small delay, the Halo 2 soundtrack, cheating (of course) and some impressions of the Xbox 360.

How about the only way to quit a game is by turning off your system. That way people don't quit and quit and quit, it becomes less attractive to have to "re-boot." Either that or disable gameplay for the duration of the game a quitter just left. Say someone left the game because they're selfish with 10mins remaining. Make it so that person can't play for 10 minutes. This way quitting is also unappealing. I understand sometimes there's emergencies such as lag or maybe some of the younger players get yelled at by their parents or something, in which case they can simply turn off the machine and do whatever it is they have to do. If a player quits, however, their score should become erased. Say they went 8 and 10 then quit... take 8 kills away from their own team and 10 kills away from the opposing team. Sure it will be 3 on 4, but erasing the score would be very good (especially since 8 and 10 is unlikely to quit, where as 4 and 16 would) 2. Also, I just started a new clan with some friends and we were level 1 and were matched up against a clan that was level 8. Are you serious? Granted we are not actually level 1 players and beat the other team, but I feel bad for the people who are! 3. Furthermore, there should be a 3-strike policy for betrayals. Especially with the new powerful grenades. And for you people who boot the person who betrayed you, respawn and ask why first. It was probably a mistake and instead of making teams uneven, just realize there is FF in Halo, and not everyone is out to get you. 4. Lastly, is glitching or super-bouncing considered cheating? Afterall, anyone can do it so it doesn't pose an unfair advantage. I just don't want to be fedback as cheating simply because I didn't know.
1. I agree 95%. I disagree with removing the "leave game option". There are plenty of legitimate excuses for just leaving a game without turning off your xbox. Lag, betraying members of your team, glitchers, cheaters, standbyers. All usually cause ME to quit, and I plan on playing another game right after that. If I have to turn on my xbox, the experience will completely put me off of Halo that night. And I'm a pretty hard-core gamer. Imagine what casual gamers would go through. But I agree something needs to be done. I think quitter feedback needs to be in place. But I also think that Bungie needs to do something they haven't done yet with the banhammer. They need to publicize it. People think that nobody gets banned, and that's why they keep dicking around online. Bungie needs to start spewing numbers, and putting up a list of names. Then when people see the number of banned people fly by each day, then they might have a LITTLE more faith in the feedback system, and a little less faith in cheating. 2. I know, those levels are pissing me off. And not just in clanmatches, either. Every now and then I've played against people that are 7 levels below or above me. Make the skill levels more even? Are you serious??? 3. I think your 3-strike policy is sound, though I'd want to take it a step further, by removing the boot option for players. People are griefing with it, shooting at their teammates without killing them, until their teammates retaliate, kill them, and then get booted by the GRIEFER!! That's not -blam!- right!!! And your example is sound enough. It's happened to me several times. I played a team rockets game, and I got booted. I mean, seriously, how can you hold your teammates THAT accountable in a ROCKETS game???? 4. As far as I'm concerned, it's cheating, and I leave feedback when I see it. If I see people on the roof on Zanzibar, I leave feedback all the time. They shouldn't be up there. Everyone CAN do it, if they're TAUGHT how to do it, and specifically TRY to do it. That's where Bungie draws the line. It's taking advantage of a bug in the game.
i dont agree with super-bounces being cheating. i understand its a bug in the game and everything but so was the rocket/sniper glitch and they removed it in the update. if bungie had a problem with it enough to call it cheating then they would have removed it also. i could be wrong, but im not a tattle-tale. standby= banned modding= banned racism= banned etc...= banned knowing the game inside and out= pricless
