I love Halo 4's single player, despite its flaws in gameplay (which, as a CE trickster/strategist, are pretty glaring to me), and I don't care about its multiplayer (because I stopped caring about Halo multiplayer starting in 2004).
Campaign Gameplay: CE>3>ODST>2>4>=Reach
Campaign Story: 4>CE=ODST>=2>3>Reach
Campaign Overall: CE>4>ODST>3>2>Reach
Multiplayer: CE>ZBNS Reach>3>Halol4>Halol2>lolReach
It's harsh, but I can't say that I don't take this as a comforter. Hopefully Halo 5's campaign gameplay will be up to snuff again and they produce another high quality story. And if you're wondering why I'm not hoping for anything about the multiplayer, it's because I know they'll never get it right. No matter what. Not even Bungie did, and they had an entire decade (though they came somewhat close with ZBNS Reach).

Halo 4's campaign story plays like a fanfiction, thought up by some CortanaXMasterChief lover. In other words, it's a joke. At least the previous Halos had some decency and made little jokes about themselves, for Bungie knew they had a corny storyline.
-
No, it doesn't. The subtle metaphors and inclusion of several literary devices makes it a fantastic story to me, and not "fanfiction-y" at all.

Too much space magic is not good for your health.
-
I've seen my fair share. Halo 4's isn't near the top of ludicrous space magic. Now, a certain game that released on March 6, 2012 on the other hand...

Edited by realdomdom: 1/16/2013 6:27:31 AMWhat was your first Halo? And what was your first Mass Effect? I'm curious.
-
Edited by kgj: 1/16/2013 8:18:40 PMAnd if you are by any means implying that Mass Effect 3 is even decently well written at any point aside from Tuchanka and Rannoch, then I highly disagree with you.

Halo 2 (though my favorite is Halo CE by far) and Mass Effect (favorite of the series by far). And thank you for using a gif from my favorite fictional franchise of all time.

I don't understand.

Highly disagree, Halo 4's campaign and story was the worst one out of the main titles a massive let down for me.
-
H4's campaign is a disgrace to Halo.
-
I just can't for the life of me understand how anyone can like Reach over 4. The story was so bland; and the levels were, too - well, the majority. In terms of story and character 'Chief and Cortana's journey dwarfed that of the cardboard cutouts that were Noble Team.
-
Holy shit.
-
I say engaging because the AAs actually work with my playing style this time and because there's more than 1 way to take down a certain enemy. In no way am I impressed with the AI however.
-
Except ZBNS Reach was 343i's doing, not Bungie's.
-
So? ZNBS wasn't exactly hard to change, its just that Bungie weren't allowed to do it. All 343i had to know is make tiny adjustments to the code, thats it.
-
The point is that Bungie didn't do anything about the bloom, whether they noticed the complaints or not. I'm not trying to start a developer debate, I'm just stating a fact.
-
You're right. Even still. I highly doubt they'll be able to pull off something like that again.
