343/ Halo 4

Now that we have decent information on Halo 4 and what 343 has been doing to the game, Do you think overall has 343 improved Halo or ruined it? In my opinion, There are things i LOVE about what they've did and things im not so sure about. The campaign looks absolutely stunning, I just hope they follow up on the Halo story right. Because as i long term Halo fan, I want everything to be perfect about the story! And as far as multi-player goes, From what ive seen it looks amazing, Im sure it will do fine! What about you guys? ~OB666

  • I'm meh on it. The campaign sounds decent, spartan ops will be something to try, but I'll stay out of the multiplayer. There's been a lot of changes, appearance wise, that detract a lot of things for me. I know it should be a non existent issue, but seeing Reach's abomination of a banshee floppily fly around again makes my stomach punch itself. Or seeing "big head mode" put on the races of the covenant. They've all been turned into outer space "scary" reptiles now. And when I saw the new Pelican, I was sad. I saw the "Pelican Gunship" and breathed a sigh of relief then found out the normal pelican was exactly the same save for a different coat of paint and one less turret. To me, Halo 4 right now just sits in what I call the "try-hard box." This is officially 343's first halo game, so they are eager to impress. And one good way to do that is to make an overhaul appearance wise, but they took it waaay too far. It's like they're shouting out to all the halo fans, "Hey guys, come over here! Look at how pretty and new everything is! We aren't Bungie, you can tell because of how different everything is!!" Like I said, the campaign SOUNDS good, Spartan ops will hopefully be good and long lasting, I myself will only play Multiplayer just to laugh at some of the ridiculous armours people will be bound to wear, and I can only hope customs will make a good resurrection because they were my driving motive in Halo 3 and they were absolutely horrid in Reach. If the game turns out better than I'd hoped, that'll be good, but as it sits now, it's doing exactly what Reach did. You'd get annoyed at one small thing, and then you'd notice another, and another, and another, until you'd look back and say, "holy hell, this game sucks!" And it doesn't matter, it could be the most trivial thing, like the way jackals in Reach act, but after a while things pile up. For me, having everything in Halo 4 look like it's gone into "try hard overcompensation mode" isn't a very good start. It loses some of the pull Halo has had on me.
