•
Posted by: Raiden627 Short reply: good stuff. Long Reply: There are several methods of cheating going on, most of them I am sure you are working a fix for. I would like to point out what some of them are. 1. DoS attacks, been a victim of this twice, I have my videos of those specific games saved, cheaters reported. 2. Standby, yes if you press the button for too long it boots you, however when tapped sporadically, it allows you to 'glitch' out of being kilt. (I have no concrete proof of this, but the connection indicator and my in game experience against opponents I believed engaged in this practice, lead me to believe it is a method.) 3. Handicapping in team games, it's called team for a reason, if you want solo action go to lone wolves, I've had about 5-7 games in team, where either as soon as the match starts or right before it starts, all but one member of the team quits simultaneously, the result, our team puts up a good fight, but the game "handicaps" as I like to call it, giving the lone person the advantage, I believe the only way to fix this, and it's viable is to automatically end the game when the team drops below two players on either side, no skill or exp is earned, it's considered a tie game or one that never took place, effectively neutering this method of cheating. 4. so called "achievement matches" I urge everyone to report these boosters who participate in this, because boosting is cheating's ugly cousin. Now on to other things. The news of DLC is sweet, there are a few things I bet we would all like to see added, mine are Flamethrower in Forge, and Fuel Rod Cannon. I would also like to see the brute added in as a character model to chose from, not to mention new armor types, in fact that would be an awesome contest to have, design an armor contest. I know it's a lot of work, and I don't expect things to just be thrown in the game, because people demand it, but as one of the loyal forum jockeys, and as someone who's contributed financially to your campaign of world domination, it would be a nice gesture to add some or all of these things eventually. As far as Recon Armor and flaming skull goes, who cares, I do admit as a fan of Ghost Rider, I am a bit jealous of the flaming skull, but hey bungie made the game so of course they are going to have some unique way(s) of identifying themselves, my advice is to just get over it. Edit* To the guy above me, Team matches work different than Lone Wolves in the way that, even if you don't finish first in Lone Wolves, you can still earn skill and exp. Team Games there isn't any complicated math, it's either you win or lose and whether the lowest skilled player was on your team or not, losing by one point or ten, you still lost, and throw in the lowest skilled on the winning team and that's what the game counts, and uses to determine skill, exp. Most likely if you lost 2 skill levels, it was because of that. Be glad that all lists are individual.
Amen to the cheating thing! I'll probably never get to the high ranks, but that don't make me any less a hardcore Halo 3 fan. In many ways this game is superior to the way Halo 2 ran. But there is nothing more frustrating than those people who sole purpose to wreck a team slayer game to acheive a rank or to boost their ego by tapping the standyby button to achieve an ambush position they never had the skill to acheive on thier own! As a side note, I'd love to see them on a competitve airsoft/paintball field, where there are no "standby" tricks they can do, and the shots leave bruises! And to add to your list of cheats...I have an unconfirmed report of an online sales website selling "standby switches" that can be attached inbetween the modem and the computer unit. Another method that team slayer cheaters use is that one person will "standby" while others benefit. Usually, the other players at the end of the game then cry, "we weren't cheating" while the one stays silent. Some will blatantly tell you off and laugh in your face, and admit it! The way to resolve the last issue, would be that the TEAM be held accountable for the actions of the individual...unless the team members of the accused also report the abuse. Since I know bungie tracks the accusations, this would prevent friends from "leapfrogging" game to game (having a different guy standby each game). I have actually reported people on my team when pointed out (I had just met them online in the game), and I refuse to play with anyone that performs such tactics. Just like in any sport, it is just as much the responsibility of the pplayers to police themselves as it is the refs and the monitors to police them all.
