The Official and Only Halo 3 User-Created Gametypes/Maps Thread

In addition to our Files forums (located [url=http://www.bungie.net/Forums/default.aspx?mode=halo3]here[/url]), I'm creating a thread here on the Official Halo 3 Forum to serve as a catch-all for gametypes and map variants ONLY, that have been created by the community. The hope here is that this will be used as a resource and and archive of created games and map variants from the Community. This is NOT a place to discuss the quality of an author's work or offer suggestions, do that in the links the authors will provide for their gametype/map variants. This is ONLY for collecting the gametypes. Here's the format for posting, (I've bolded ONLY for the purpose of making the text stand out in this wall of text, please refrain from bolding in your posts) all posts in this thread that violate the post format will be deleted by the moderators. [b][url=http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=13209070]Rebound, a Re-imagination of Snowbound[/url] Designed with Symmetrical-arena style slayer play in mind, Rebound takes elements of Snowbound that previously turned the map into an interior camping battle, like the Shotgun, and awards both teams a Shotgun in their respective bases. Weapon sets have been made close to identical on both sides of Snowbound in an attempt to remove the tendency of players to crouch camp underneath. This map is ideal for 2-10 players. [/b] [i]How to make these posts. 1. Create a gametype and map variant, upload these to your File Share. 2. Publish the Gametype and Map variants to the forums, save the links to those threads. 3. Create post in this thread, and link to the Map variant and Gametype at the Publish to Forums link here [this way players can easily click those links and download your gametypes. 4. Create a well-written explanation of changes made to the map and if necessary a description of the gametype you've created, including ideal number of players, number of teams (if necessary) and any other relevant information. Please write as clearly and coherently as possible. 5. Bungie will be watching this thread and using it as a resource for gametype creation from the community as well, all posts not relevant to the topic at hand will be removed and users potentially extinguished like torches in a monsoon.[/i] [Edited on 10.12.2007 1:55 PM PDT]

  • OK, so i know it is a little lame to just come in here and post your file share. I will apologize ahead of time for the lack of picks and all the fancy stuff. I don't post my maps on forums. Did once on forgehub and never followed up. But, after endless hounding by my friends list... At any rate, my file share represents a collection of my best work. I play A LOT of halo and have hundereds of hours forging. I think my maps show it. In an effort to give some description of each map with out photos, I will just lable them by game type. Big team battle, [url=http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=103916660] Research 1.3.14 [/url] my best BTB map. make it yours too. This map is a huge real life warehouse. i took the layout off he web and built it for big team. The battles with BR under the palm trees (yeah I built palm trees, worth a look) and out back of the ware house are epic. The warehouse is huge and fully enclosed. This is a terrific map 8 v 8 and very differant than they typical map. [url=http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=106374528] Laramie Range [/url] this is extrodinary. I know the whole "tunnel" thing has been done. This one is expansive. you can move about the entire map underground close quarters, or go above and rifle it out. The cave with the shotgun is sweet. Above the bases are geomerged to look as if the landscape is swallowing them up. We have playe 8 v 8 team slayer and not felt crowded. In the crypt with 4 storie hight in what feels like an urban close quarters setting. You really must see this map to understand the complexity of the building. The flow is quick and tactical, and you won't believe I got out of that fire fight alive close. [url=http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=101136919] Niburu Sands[/url] for those of you who like Tower of Power you might dig on this. I originally built the tower so tall you couldn't look down and hold a turret at the same time. The concept evolved into a huge tower over looking a military outpost. This is a very unique play. The snipe cover needed to properly assault the tower makes this an exciting BTB. [url=http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=93969697] Stupid Complex [/url] HUGE-ANIC! I made a map called Super Complex in the foundry and it was jus toooo small a space. This is an attack and defend map with a huge - super expansive base. The use of light vehicle is important and the suppression of sniper fire make this complex base a riot in objective. Slayer / Team Slayer [url=http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=53107333] Black Ops 1.2 [/url] I have counted over 50 short cut or trick jumps on this. What I always loved about Lockout was that there were so many short cuts and ways to trick jump yourself out of trouble or over some one to get the drop. Blockout limited this a little and I was crying in my beer when I said self, do better. Here it is. This has so many short cuts, extra path ways, trick jumps, drops, multi jumps grenade jumps and even a mancannon skip jump. We rumble this map all day. [url=http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=107264978] Inspired [/url] = midship + lockout + accention + gardian :) Always frustrated that I fell off of most skybubble maps i decided to design a map in the bubble that didn't suk. The layout is based on what I thought were the best of each of the maps listed. The look and feel of this map keeps it playing on and on. The bases, provided a terrific gun fight from within, or looking out. The multi flag is Wild. the flag starts facing and all H E double hocky sticks breaks out. DOWNLOAD THIS! [url=http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=101136775] PTown 1.1 [/url] Elegant vs. map. BR friendly :) I cant stand MLG maps. I feel like they are flat, boring, no cover no item wastlands. I wanted something that was BR callout intesive, but offered a little variety and more vertical space. Don't get me wrong, I am not calling this and MLG map. It is not. However, If you like MLG you will dig this. The team call outs make it very competitive and it is very rifle friendly. PS the Snipe and fire grenades are out of sight. you have to make jumps to get them. Look in forge. [url=http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=101136810] 4Kings Crossing [/url] master forge on foundry. I pushed this little space just as far as I could. 4 bases of very large size over a street corner. lots of jumps, shortcuts and even a working door you can open and close in game play to get advantage. My best foundry map. [url=http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=101136930] Niburu Mines [/url] Mezmerizing! assult and flag! A friend of mine made a map called "Hells Halls" and I like the idea. So I mentally conected this map to the Niburu sands map as the underground portion of the installation. (back story) take a minute and look up. Play the Bomb and Flag variants and notice that the attack defend locations for each type are not in the same locations. This changes the game dramatically. At any rate I highly reccomend small arms, like mags n frags. At 3 minutes the noise starts. I used this in a custom game type. I suggest setting spawn time to never and no to spawn on start. if you delete the kill balls kuz you don't like the noise you cant get them back. [url=http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=101137039] Cans Cans 1.1 [/url] Smallest, sneakiest, sickest. My buddy Kuolasi laid this out. concept is his as well. The full basement you might just miss in the dark. This is wonderful 3 v 3. This map is built on only 1/2 of the crypt. you won't even notice it feels large and supports a lot of rifle fire. This is the last skybubble map I built. I consider this to be my best rumble map in the sky bubble. very clean forge, perfect off angles. View it from above and you will see the star pattern from an origami crane, (which I used as my base map layout. if you don't know about origami crease patterns, take look on Google. they will tell you everything you need to know about map layout. DOWNLOAD THIS MAP FOOO! [url=http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=76552530] Waxworks [/url] Rumble rumble rumble :) My first crypt map before I learned to merge properly. Not a perfect forge, but a blast of a rumble map. 4 corner symetrical multi layer jump infested death box. [url=http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=101137338] equiptship [/url] Midship on crack! Ok ever wish you could make the jump from blue base to top of pink? This works on default speeds, but is more fun at 110% speed. play anything, it is midship with goodies. [url=http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=75171558] waxs labrynth [/url] old school look at the build date on this. lol Ok you guessed it! a Maze! .the spacing of objects in this map keeps it fun even as old as it is. There are several layers of surfaces to trick jump from. if you can't go around maybe you can go over, or under or not. lol you might get lost a few times as the map is not semetrical. but after you learn it you will be NINJA! Random [url=http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=106987159] road rage 1.0 4 [/url] party map! vehicle sniper mahem! waaaayyy fun You can't play much of an objective game on this. In fact normal default slayer is kinda lame. BUT! get in some vehicles and check out the entirly new geomerged feel of steep banked turns, huge jumps, and death raining from the passenger seat or back of the mongoose and you will be laughing till you puke. This map is so fun to drive. One for the wheelmen. I hope you can play these with your crew and have a good time. There are a few hundred hours in the maps I listed here. So enjoy. cndlwx Ps. please fly around them in forge. i left guns and things tucked away just in case I wanted to change them later. Most of these, if you delete a piece, you will not get memory,budget or item back. So, be certain if you delete someting. It is gone forever.
