If you really think any normal American has any clue of African business leaders, you're well off base. I don't expect anyone to know who Franklin Raines is, even though he was the first black Fortune 500 CEO at Fannie Mae. I don't expect hardly anyone to know who Kenneth Chenault is, even though they probably carry his company's credit card in their wallet and he has guided AmEx so well for the past decade.
