Another in our continuing and in-depth looks at the weapons of Halo 3. This time we expose a dual wieldable weapon, designed exclusively for Halo 3. The Brute Spiker. A nasty, vicious, shredding horror used primarily by Brutes. Learn to love it now. And make sure you have QuickTime installed...
Posted by: SuperPhish I notised that the name on the form you had Frankie said that it was type 23 carbine. is it taking the place of the carbine?
You can be sure that the Halo 2 weapons will still be in the game. They won't make that mistake like they did with the pistol. The Halo 1 pistol needs to make an appearance. It was perfect, and no the BR/carbine is not a good substitute. Taking out the zoom or making the reticle smaller would have been all the balance you needed. Weakening the pistol turned off so many Halo 1 fans.

in response to couchman3000 i think your right about the changing firing settings

Wait, wait, wait? Does this article continue to mock the "pulse the smg" issue or is it promise of a reformed smg and a new hope in this brute spiker? As of now no matter the firing speed of the smg the scatter will remain consistent with only the rising effects of the recoil acting as any variable. Does this new article suggest that both the smg and brute spiker will have scatter patterns that will in fact be less while fired slowly and expand outwards/ with greater variability when fired more rapidly, in addition to any recoil effects? Or is this suggestion to pulse the trigger a continuation of the joke of making the smg good at long range where the preset scatter will leave us a better chance of hitting a foe afar by not aiming at them (utilizing the outer ring preset scatter rather than aim straight at them and pulse to get rounds down the middle)?

I wanna take the spiker get behind a grunt and probe them with it.

Of course everybody noticed this and probably ignored it because it doesn't make any sense, but one of the Marine's quote remark thing said something about you know, having his arm cut, did he mean like, totally cut off?Because that would possibly mean that it could it be possible for the bayonet, sword, or grenade to literally rip off someone's limb apart.. Now that would be totally sweeet.

I hardly know jack about guns, but shouldn't it have a stock or something at the back? Judging from the description, all the weight is at the front. It sounds like it would be weird to hold out. It just looks like it needs some kind of weight for balance at the back of the gun.
Posted by: te only hgk Base Amen Michael Apple is bad they are too much like the the French and the only reason iTunes and iPod are popular is because the Liberal media chose the most Liberal company that made a music listening device and promoted them. the spiker is cool, i'll have to remember the riquocheting part.
The liberal media?, Liberal company? You definately don't fit the Apple demographic

A very juicy update, funny too ;p Would be awesome to hear those spiker comments from the marines in-game. Im amazed over the gun too, but Im just as jurious about the rewamped halo guns from previous games and the other new onws. But about ammo types and reloading: Fact 1: Many say about f.example the needler, spiker that unlike "most" covy weapons, they have to be reloaded. Yes indeed and the truth is that: 2: Many weapons have to be reloaded , like: Needler, Spiker, Covenant Carbine, Brute Shot, Fuel Rod Gun (the one you can use, Cannon on banshee. so they arent few exactly. 3: Battery based weapons: Plasma Pistol, Plasma Rifle, Brute Plasma Rifle, Beam Rifle, which cant be reloaded use a limited power cell. So they are useless after used up, and may not after what we know be recharged. expect on vehicles and spacecraft, weapons the soldiers use fall mostly under protocol 3. reaload based weaponry.
Posted by: awesomeness Sounds great. I can't wait to play Halo 3's campaign for the first time with all these new weapons n stuff! What does one of the individual projectiles look like that the Spiker shoots?
im guessing the spiker shoots bullet like projectiles just cuz of the name. if you look at the muzzle of the gun those 2 blue spots are prolly where they come from. they might be like LASER BULLETS hahaha

In response to SpArTaNo9: It's not an actual video. If you click and hold on the image of the gun, you can rotate it and look at the gun from different angles.
-
I actually agree, the x button, may actually be used to change the weapons firing mode, like burst-fire to maybe single-shot.... Noone knows but Bungie themselves :( But all will be revealed in the Halo 3 multiplayer Beta :D :D Speaking of which, i can't wait!!! lol - Anyway... Once again, brilliant update! ;). I too, can't wait to get my hands on it... Actually, let me rephrase that... I can't wait to get my hands on any weapon in Halo 3!!! lmao...
-
Hahah. That actually sounds slightly painful.
-
I'm sure the blades of the Spiker won't seem awkward when they are lodged in your skull or whatever appendage your opponent delights in sticking it in or hacking off.
-
-
wow!!!!

Now there's a big bad weapon to use in Multiplayer in Halo 3.
