Halo 2 Launch Date and Special Limited Edition!

Halo 2 will be available in stores on November 9, 2004. That's the long and the short of it. You'll be playing Campaign, multiplayer or both on November 9th. And if you pre-order, you'll have the chance to purchase an extra-fancy collector's edition in a metal box.
I can still remember that feeling of buying my first ever game. In my case, it was the Atari 2600 game COMBAT. I remember taking the bus home and reading the instruction manual. "52 different games in one!" Admittedly they were all variants of the same game, but, that feeling of rushing home to play it, but cherishing that pristine box of your favorite game is an irreplaceable feeling. Of course back then, the boxes were made of cardboard and mine got wet and disintegrated within a week.
That's why we're pleased, no, elated to announce the existence of the Halo 2 Limited Collector's Edition in its cool, steely silver, embossed, satin-finished, perfect, metal box.
The Halo 2 Limited Collector's Edition is available to players who pre-order the game - those who have already pre-ordered, will probably be contacted by their retailer to see which version they want, but to be safe, we recommend contacting your retailer directly and making sure they know which version you want - awesome regular kind or super-awesome Limited Collector's Edition.

Hey Frankie, i was wondering if the Halo 2 limited edition box was going to be given to all online buyers, for i (being the impatient fool that i am) have ordered Halo 2 via the website 'Special Reserve' (its an all English website i think) way back in March and i was just thinking how good it would be to get my hands on one. So, please answer this query, does the limited edition box come only to those that pay an extra fee via a reserved website for the collectors edition, or does it come (as i seem to remember reading in your report, although i may be mistaken) to any online buyer, regardless of the whereabouts they got it from?

Ok people, here's the deal. I am a Store Manager for Gamestop. This is what we're doing for Halo 2 LE. If you already reserved your copy of Halo 2 (like the hundreds other people that did at my store), you will have the choice of the Special Edition or the regular when you come to pick it up on 11/9. Yes, it will be $5 dollars more, but hey, it's got more special features than most DVD's do. If you didn't reserve your copy yet, what in the $*%$ are you waiting for. For everyone else, you can choose which one you want, but only when you reserve it. As far as an international date, that's left up to Bungie. One thing is for certain. Knowing the sheer number of people getting this game first day, it could take Bungie over a month to actually produce enough copies. I know the LE will be just for those who reserved it. However, who knows how many they are going to produce? Most retailers get a set amount of reserves they can take, then fill them. If a game actually gets filled (i.e. GTA Vice City) then there will be no extras. My guess is that you'll have anywhere between now and about a month before the game's release to reserve it. I know I don't want to be the one without it first day. Not only that, but I WILL laugh at you if you try to get one from me without reserving it. So fellow Seventh Column members, gamers, and Halo/Bungie fans that's the scoop. Let the count down begin. Only 181 days left till the biggest game in video game history.

ARGH i just tried ordering it trough gamestop, but it just says it can't ship that product to my country =( I'm affraid that it won't be released outside USA since there's no response from bungie to all the questions of people outside the USA wanting to know if they can get their hands on it too.... Oh well, here goes nothing anyway: HEY BUNGIE, WILL THE SLE MAKE IT TO THE NETHERLANDS?? Thanx in advance for info!

It would be a real crime if only American Gamer's get there hands on this "Special Edition" My Halo 2 purchase will still be a sweet event on ( Nov 19th ??? ), but not as sweet as it could have been with the 2 disk set ( ???).

I reserved my copy of Halo 2 back in January to be sure I got it from EB. I went to the store yesterday and asked to be updated to receive the new Limited Edition of Halo2. The guy at the register hadn't heard of it yet, but he looked it up and found it! I went ahead and canceled my pre-order from January and RE-pre-ordered for the Special Limited Edition. I think if you wait for Nov.9 to see if you get the "Limited Edition" you will be out of luck unless they have extra copies of the "Limited Edition" laying around the store, which I highly doubt. My new receit shows "Halo 2 Lmtd Edt". I was the first at my store to pre-order, so if I don't get my copy some heads will be rolling. Go to the store and update now before it is too late, nobody knows how many they are going to be making. Sorry to all the out-of-country people. I say buy a NTSC (American)XBOX so you can get the "Limited Edition". If I had to make a guess (without going back and reading the article) if it didn't say worldwide release on Nov.9th you out-of-country people are SOL. To be honest, I didn't know there were so many of you that enjoyed this game as much I do. Yes, pre-ordering is the same as reserving. I might have raid Bungie just to see the game, this waiting around is about to kill me.

That's freakin crazy. The Collector's edition looks awesome. The only set back about this news is the launch date is back another two months. I'm going to be on a two month vacation anyways. So it doesn't really matter. Keep up the good work Bungie.
