Spike Grenade
Robt. McLees again contributes to our latest preview of a new Halo 3 weapon. Read on for the UNSC's latest intel on the Brute's grenade of choice: The Type-2 Antipersonnel Fragmentation Grenade - or [i]spike grenade[/i], for short.

I'm just wondering...how will one defend from such a grenade? Shoot it? Or blow it up with a frag, or something? And what happens if they stick it in some wedge that's impossible to see until you're right next to it, such as in the crack of a doorway?

im sure this spike grenade is going to be pretty sweet but remember back when we heard the sword was going to be put in halo 2. that turned out -blam!-. im kinda afraid.

The Pics in the Updates are alllways too small. They should link to a bigger hi-res version... I wanna use the Spike Gnade like a baseball bat hitting everyone in sight!!!!

Sounds cool, hopefuly if you get stuck with it in the chest and you turn around the spikes go the way your facing so if some one does stick you and jump over you, you can turn around and hope facing them will make the spikes hit them to.

This would be cool if they made it like Gears There is an achievement called "Is it a spider?" and its sticking 100 enemies in ranked matches.. What you do is get really close to an enemy that is preoccupied or doesn't have a close range weapon out and you press the melee button when you have the grenade equiped and it sticks to them and you then to a backwards flip and hide so you don't get exploded as well.

I don't know, the plural spartans could just be him talking about multiple spartans in multiplayer. Then again, you never know. This seems to be resembling Gears a little but heck, who cares, its still goin to be a kick ass game. Edit: About the Grunts , a marine could have picked up a spike grenade from a fallen Jr. Kong and thrown it at a Grunt. [Edited on 1/24/2007]

"...usually kills a grunt or marine"....So the UNSC has been watching brutes fight grunts? Does this mean the marines & grunts are fighting on the same side now? (Could be Brute-allied Grunts, but the way they say it...) That would be awesome, both the smack-talking races... (PLEASE make better allied Elite combat dialogue!!! Less cheesy accents too..)
