It was always like that, of course he had a back story and characterization since then, but being the Master Chief is what they intended you to feel when you [u]played[/u] the game. [b]And to OP:[/b] I really loved the way they developed Master Chief as a character in the campaign, making him evolve as a "human" through the campaign was a really nice touch. However I didn't like the detail of showing us his face as much as I thought I would if it happened, I completed the campaign in Heroic at first and I loved the feeling I got when the screen got black. But when I completed it in Legendary and I got to see that part of his face I didn't like it that much. I preferred when it was a mystery. However it doesn't bother me at all, it was ok, I'm just saying that I didn't like it that much, that's all.
