• There is only one other way to gain admittance to the Halo 3 multiplayer beta program. Beginning Feb. 1, 2007, Halo fans with an Xbox 360, an Xbox Live Gold account, and a copy of the mega-popular Halo 2™ will have a chance to be selected in the Halo 3 multiplayer beta program through the Xbox Live “Play to Win” Program. This special engagement will close on Feb. 4, providing gamers worldwide three days to take advantage of this rare opportunity. All gamers need to do is participate in three different Halo 2 multiplayer sessions on Xbox Live over the course of the three-day window and, once the three-day window is over, be among the first to register via Xbox Live Marketplace. That’s it.

 •
Posted by: Fluffy Hobbit You are all going to love me for this.. (or at least you should). GO HERE :) http://crackdownoncrime.com/News/Halo3_Announcement.htm Anyone who doesn’t like two-for-one offers, especially those connected with popular video games, should stop reading right now. For the rest of you, here is some exciting news: Gamers who buy Crackdown™ are guaranteed a place in this spring’s Halo 3™ multiplayer beta program! Truly a unique, value-packed, action-filled two-fer if ever there was one!
Well thats nice and all but I don't want to pay $60.00 for a game I don't want just to get into a BETA!!! I'll take the cheap bastards way and rent the game to get into the beta. $60.00 NO WAY!!

 • well i don't get it u have all your stuff messed up... i mean with crackdown... i saw on xbox.com that it said this thing with "specially marked" boxes and here it says all crackdown? also say you rent the game crackdown would you still be eligible? or does it have to be bought cause there is a special paper in the cd cover... and about the 3 hrs/3 games... i am mad confused here!!! i mean i come on u guys have to make all your postings accurate... i mean i see this 3 hour time and then there i also see that there is this thing with 3 games... what the heck is up with that? anyway i don't think that i will get picked but i want at least a fair chance in all this... and also with the whole Crackdown game thing... i mean what is this crakdown and bungie are working together? probably this whole thing with crackdown paying bungie to promote their franchise... lol anyways Frankie u guys there in bungie or in Microsoft better fix this whole confusion with specially marked boxes and 3hrs/3games thing i mean it is just to mad confusing

 • I know this news is brand new but I have read three different sources all saying different things. 1. Crackdown - are there specifically marked packages or not? Bungies post says yes, but http://crackdownoncrime.com/News/Halo3_Announcement.htm says no. So which is it? 2. Once you play 3 hours of Halo 2 on Feb 1, do you sign up right after wards on Halo3.com or Live marketplace? Do you have to wait until Feb 3 to sign up or can you do it right after your 3 hours? How do you know if youve reached 3 hours? Does between games count for your time?

The people that work at the rental store will probably jack your code before you rent it too hahaha....

 • Just because you signed up for it doesnt mean you get picked automatically. The best chance is to try every way mentioned so far. Even then you arent guaranteed it seems.

 • You have to have the disk to download the beta. Most places will not let you return a game thats been opened. Not for near full price anyways

Bungies post says yes, but http://crackdownoncrime.com/News/Halo3_Announcement.htm says no. So which is it?
If you don’t get selected through either of those two promotions, there is a third, guaranteed option. Anyone who purchases the upcoming Xbox 360 game “Crackdown” will get automatic entry into the Halo 3 beta. If you have a Crackdown disc you’ll be able to activate and download the beta once it goes live next Spring. -Frankie Only Xbox.com says that take home a specially marked box and score the invite. Xbox.com also says you must play 3 hours of halo 2 while Frankie and the Crackdown site say 3 games. I choose to believe frankie and the crackdown site simply because that sounds nicer... Take note that the Crackdown site is part of microsoft gaming studios and the guy that posted it on xbox.com could have made a mistake. Or frankie was misinformed and the crackdown site is wrong :(

 • I read the update, but I'm still confused. How do I know whether I'm accepted into Beta. I signed up on Halo3.com the day the commercial premeired on Monday Night Football, about a month ago. Is that good enough?

And i dont believe the disc has a code you can see with your eyes and write down, hehe. So here's what you could do: Buy crackdown, keep it until the beta is up, insert the disc and download the beta, go to gamestop, sell game for 10 dollars.

 •
Posted by: psycho07 Heres another burning question, wont this make a lot of people who wanted to play but werent chosen mad, which would cause a catastrophic meltdown of the Bungie forums?
Hell, the Halo 3 forum is already filled with angry people having meltdowns, so I doubt we'd notice much of a difference.
