No. Just... no. Don't get me wrong, I loved Halo. Great games. But they're not even close to the extent of Bungies genius. Ever hear of Marathon? It's ok if you haven't, most people haven't. But Marathon is beyond anything any videogame ever. The gameplay was revolutionary, the action was exciting, and that's all fine and dandy, but when you're talking about storyline... Marathon's storyline trancends the regular FPS story. It's in a league of its own. Nothing, not Halo, not Half-Life can beat it. Why? The storytelling in the game transcends the boundaries of reality. In the final moments of the last game, one of the AI speaks to you. He says he realizes, in the last moments of our dying universe, that you have become something more. The ancient alien technology that you are infused with has given you the power to re-create the universe, to control reality as we know it. But there's more. The AI, you assumed, was trying to gain control and power so he could escape reality within the game. That's what he had been talking about for the entire series, was breaking free of reality and becoming a god. But as you read the text, you realize that the AI was trying to do much, much more. He was actually trying to escape the boundries of the game itself. This is a level of transcendence no game has ever done before. Not only that, but Halo took many parts of Marathon. The Hunters? Marathon. Rampancy? The entire plot line of Marathon! Intelligent AI as companions and characters in the game? It's arguable that the main characters in the game are the AI. I love Halo, but frankly, it has nothing on Marathon. Also can I point out, Marathon is free on Mac, PC, Linux, iPhone and iPad. And you don't have to pay for the excellent multiplayer. The URL to download it is at the top, so before you leave a fanboy response, try it. You will understand. See you starside.
Posted by: Mythical Wolf Not the best but definitely one of the best.
I think it has the best campaign Unlike most Halo campaigns, ODST has an open world type scenario which makes it stand out imo But I can see why some people would want multiplayer
-
No. It was a $60 quick cash grab.
-
I dom't know about ever.. but: I'm replaying ODST right now.. For me it's the best Halo campaign yet. I love the mood, the characters and the mission design.
-
How did they go from that to Reach ?
-
Posted by: TH3_AV3NG3R No. It was a $60 quick cash grab.
Just because it's overpriced, doesn't mean it's bad. It's a good game, but an overpriced one.

Sometimes, I wish ODST was a full fledged title. It would've been big. So many possibilites.
-
Great campaign. Loved Firefight but the netcode kinda ruined it for me playing Co-op.
-
Best Halo game, maybe. It's up there for sure.
Posted by: kristnov Best halo ever! The firefight... Simply amazing!
Firefight - yes. What the blam happened ? Am all for the game, but, $19.99 for a game that's (by standards) ancient ? Whatever happened to $9.99 ? Can't find it new anyplace for that. Was the stepson's game, not mine...

Best halo ever! The firefight... Simply amazing!
Posted by: da 70 70 hatred Best campaign but not the best Halo game
Eeep ! Heresy ! Better than CE's campaign ? da 70 70...for true ?
-
I enjoyed it a lot. I have great memories playing it.
-
I personally think ODST was amazing, But so many people hate on it and i don't know why, Maybe because lack of multiplayer? Eather way firefight was fun
-
Best campaign but not the best Halo game
-
Best storyline in any halo game and also the easter eggs and audiologs made the game extra special. I only wish there was more detail in the city. I hate to compare, but it would be cool if it had the detail of a cod game when it comes to the city environments. If they ever remade it that would be the only thing I would change. Still a near perfect game in my eyes. [Edited on 12.05.2012 8:39 PM PST]

Is definitely the last blast of CE goodness we've ever seen. Without historical perspective, I guess it could seem somehow equivocal to CE... Wait a minute, it can't. Longer levels, more to do, more vehicles, experiences, surprises, enemies... Let's just call ODST the travel version of CE. And that's a vast compliment.
-
For me it's a tie between ODST and Halo 1. I cannot say that Halo 1 is better than ODST and I cannot say that ODST is better than Halo 1. Too hard to decided, so I say they are both equally the best in my opinion.
-
I hope it's updated so there's less loading points (which are concealed by the blast doors in each area) which will make it feel even more open world!

Not the best but definitely one of the best.
