How Did Gravemind Get There (In Citadel)

Here goes stupid question. How did the Gravemind get to the Citadel after Arbiter killed the Prophet? The tentacles seem to come up from below and the sides of the Citadel but as we know, there's nothing but a huge chasm that probably drops to the other side of the Installation into space. So, somehow the Gravemind made its way from the crashed High Charity "over" the void that lies beneath the Citadel. We never see the rest of its body during this scene or when you're fighting your way out of the Citadel. Just its tentacles. Maybe someone can explain this? Like I said.... Odd and dumb question. :P

I'm just wondering how the entire mass that is the Gravemind is somehow 'floating' above that big gap underneath the Citadel? That or his tentacles are VERY long and can reach from the crashed High Charity all the way down to there....
There's so much about the cutscene that just screams boss battle. I think they were in the process of reinventing that particular scene but they ran out of time so they deleted most of Gravemind's model. Or they ran into some legal issues that prevented them from fully depicting Gravemind (like Blofeld in his last official appearance in the James Bond films). :P
I agree with you. That would have been quite epic!
Posted by: mr farenhiet The Gravemind could've had access to the Ark's transportation grid just as it did Delta Halo's in Halo 2. I was disappointed we didn't get a boss fight; that segment had a lot of potential.
Even if it did teleport, there's nothing underneath it but a chasm that probably drops into space on the other end. What someone said about it clinging to the walls of the chasm makes more sense. It's that or that thing has very, very long tentacles.
Well, as we've seen Flood biomass is pretty damn adhesive. Maybe Gravemind was chilling up under the platform. lol

 • the tentacles must have grown on the walls of the chasm. Flood biomass can grow very quickly.

 • The Flood transmits through the air! D: Ever notice that one marine on Floodgate and he gets infected BEFORE the Flood fall on him? Or that marine in the building who gets infected despite saving him from the infection forms? But seriously, just like how the CE cutscene, where Cortana starts basking in all the Forerunner knowledge, would have led to her being the main antagonist, there was probably going to be a boss battle with Gravemind taking place. Bungie didn't get to do it but they left it in mostly unchanged, though sloppily. [Edited on 11.29.2012 6:47 PM PST]
