Is it against the rules if you make a thread that's similar to another thread?
For example (I'm making the following up):
Person A posts a thread with the subject "Why do you like rap music?" A few minutes later, Person B posts a thread with the subject "Why do you like rock music?"
Does Person B's thread violate the rules?
Is Person B's thread considered a parody thread?
What if Person B gives credit to Person A for the original idea?

I'd say it's etiquette, but I doubt you'd be punished.

Usually in situations like that, I'd wait to post until the next day about whatever it is. Or at the very least, until the similar thread is on the second page.
-
If your common sense can denote a topic as a parody of another thread, it's against the rules in most cases. But "What is your favourite video game?" and "What is your favourite movie?" would easily be rule-abiding.

If you think that a post or thread is a problem, then report it. As simple as that.

Not necessarily. Similar thread does not equal parody thread. [Edited on 11.28.2012 3:57 PM PST]

Imagine a thread about a guy asking about girls and he has a little story. Now imagine a thread (made a few minutes later) about a girl asking about guys and their story fits with the other thread. That is a parody thread. [Edited on 11.28.2012 3:57 PM PST]
