The ice melts and dilutes the flavor! Instead of getting Coke, you get a half-Coke, half-water monster. You may as well fill half the cup with tap water.
Not only this, but if wherever you're going to doesn't offer refills, then you're paying to get less pop.
Now, I know what you're probably thinking: "Who's this dumbass? I need the pop to be cold! Does he expect me to drink warm pop?! What a loser. He must eat babies." Well, there's this thing, you might have heard of it, pretty new invention, it's called a refrigerator. Stick a two liter in there for 20 minutes, and it's as cold as iced pop. Plus, pop from the fountain at restaurants is already cold.
Come at me.

This has always annoyed me about restaurant drinks, not for the same reasons as you, but I agree, they put too much ice in the drinks.
-
Lol I just did this 30 minutes ago. Drink faster broseph.
Posted by: Grunkle Stan
Posted by: theHurtfulTurkey Where are you going that charges for soda refills?
Going through the drive-thru at any fast food place. You can't even get refills.
The ice is to make sure your drink is cold when you get home, silly.
-
I hate it so much when they put a blam!-ton of ice in my pop! **Rage!**
-
If the soda is refrigerated it's dumb to put ice in it, but if it's at room temp or warmer the ice is beneficial. What I don't get is people getting ice in their drinks at restaurants whether fast food or otherwise. It takes up space in your cup, is pointless since the soda is almost always cold, and when the ice melts your drink tastes disgusting, worse than if it were just warm.
-
To keep it cool for a short period of time.
Posted by: Grunkle Stan
Posted by: WitchDocktor ...people still call soda pop?
Depends where you're from. North: pop South: soda
I'm from Connecticut and we call it soda.

When I drink a soft drink, and I want it cold fast, I just put it in the freezer for a few minutes.
Posted by: BlackHeaven It makes it colder, and if you drink it quickly enough the water does not change the flavor.
I chug down soda as fast as wood chippers shred babies.

I put ice in my pops to better freeze them for transport.

Over time it changes the taste, but early on it tastes better.
