Marcus Lehto leaves Bungie (again)

Apparently, via Twitter, Marcus Lehto has left Bungie after initially being brought back to work on a top-secret project that still remains a mystery, with no intention of returning. Super sad news, however it leaves a variety of questions unanswered: Is the project finished? Did the project get abandoned? Did disagreements between him and Bungie open the door to his absence? Either way, good luck to him in the future, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for his work. Personally, I heard he partnered up with CliffyB. Not really, but that would be awesome.

 •
Posted by: Cortland_Brewer Wasn't he over Halo: Reach's multiplayer? Wouldn't that mean people should hate him? Personally, I liked Reach.. Just saying..
Yea, he was very much involved with Reach's multiplayer. Strange to see him leave for the second time.

 • Thats a shame because he made me so excited for Bungies future from what he had to say in the 20 year ViDoc. Best of luck Marcus!

 • That's a real shame considering he said he was having so much fun with the new project.

 • Another one bites the dust. :( He's been with Halo from the start, sad to see him go. But we can't tread the same path forever, ya know? I wish him the best of luck on his future endeavors, whatever they may be. [Edited on 10.07.2012 12:56 AM PDT]

 • Let's NOT bring Recon in here, or else we're going to have a repeat of Wednesday night during PAX. Tears were almost to be had. :(
Posted by: Duardo Damn. Seems like all of the grizzled ancients are leaving :( Marcus genuinely seemed like a nice guy. I'm sure he'll be missed at Bungie.
It sounds like he's biting his tongue on this one. Although, Joe Tung might still be around. I believe that Joe was on Marcus' team. [Edited on 10.06.2012 10:14 PM PDT]

 • Not good. I was really sad to see him leave the first time, glad to hear he was comimg back, and now even sadder to see him leave again. He almost hit 15 years at Bungie with the second longest employment next to Robt Mclees (and not counting Jason Jones). I guess if he feels that it is time to move on, then I guess it's his time to move on. Best wishes to him and his future endeavors.

 • Damn, I always liked seeing him in the vidocs, he seems like a really genuinely nice guy. It seems that all the people I remember from the Halo 2 vidocs from the Halo 1-2 days are leaving. I hope there's still some familiar faces left for Destiny.

 • Wherever he goes, I hope he and his family do well. It doesn't seem like any of the recent Grizzleds have left due to internal disputes (for all we'll ever know), just either wanting to be closer to family, or wanting to join developers that are smaller. Not everyone wants to have work totally dominate their time, causing them to miss out on their family. And, Bungie is huge now. Some people like working at smaller places due to how intimate they are, or due to wanting a new challenge. Anyway you put it, though, he deserves some (more) time off. Making Myth and Halo are huge accomplishments, and whatever he'll do next should be interesting.

 •
Posted by: spawn031 This is news to me. It's always great seeing him in ViDoc's, on twitter and updates on the Noble Actual Blog for Halo Reach. Well, it's been a good run for him. We can't always stay on the same road forever. Wish the best for him.
I agree, he was in many ViDocs over the years and was a great guy to listen to.
