Registering to vote is good, but this thread is filled with far too much political side commentary. I think it's best if we locked it rather than going through and banning people.
Posted by: MadMax888
Posted by: Egerspurge Cool, I need to register so we can that socialist out of office :D
Because socialism is bad, right?
You must be a lefty.

ALREADY REGISTERED PRO STATUS BABY!!
-
I'll be 6 months too young to vote. Even though both candidates are just as bad.
-
I'm refusing to vote in my congressional election because the districts are so horrendously gerrymandered.
-

Popular vote doesn't really matter anyways. Electoral votes decide.

I will be voting Obama/Biden.
Posted by: DarkVader9494 Also you can't complain about the president if you have the chance to vote and you choose not to.

Posted by: Knux NY
Posted by: Mr Reaganomics Not even worth it this year, a vote for anyone in the ballot is a wasted vote. I'll just cross everyone out and write in Ron Paul.
^This I hate all the candidates. Honestly, I have no idea why Ron Paul is out of the picture...
Maybe because he's an insane anarch- I mean "libertarian" racist?
-
I look forward to voting since I turned 18 two weeks ago. Also you can't complain about the president if you have the chance to vote and you choose not to.

I don't feel like voting for idiot #1 or idiot #2.
There's also tons of state and local issues on the ballot which will directly effect you. Don't forget that part. Voting isn't just about the president.
State and local elections are just as important or arguably moreso.
I definitely think they're more important than national issues. These are things that well affect your everyday life. It is best to be well-informed about state and local issues.
The same people who vote only for the president and don't follow state/local poltiics, are the same people who blame everything on the president.
Posted by: Miz KillZone
Posted by: MadMax888 Because socialism is bad, right?
Are you being serious?
Yes and no. Firstly, Obama is far from a socialist. Secondly, countries with socialized education, healthcare, etc, are functioning just fine. People think that socialism will mean the end of the US. It's no different than the red scare in the 50's. It's McCarthyism with a new face. [Edited on 09.18.2012 10:49 AM PDT]
Posted by: Ratas Mortum Oh yeah! I can finally vote and decide the leader of my own country! *sees canidates* .... crap.
If you want change, you change it. Don't just sit there and wait for others to do so.
Posted by: raganok99
Posted by: MadMax888
Posted by: raganok99 I don't vote anymore. I don't want to be involved in politics.
Why don't you want to be involved in what happens in your city, county, state, and country?
My vote represents 0.000001% of entire community. So there you go, I answered your question.
Do you realize how many people have the "my vote doesn't really count for anything" philosophy? 2008 was the highest it has been in 1960, which was only 60%. Slightly more than half of the American people vote. Your vote counts.
Posted by: NicodemusTNT
Posted by: ICEISNICE Eh, maybe I'll get around to it. But I'm so uninformed about politics outside of presidential policies that I would feel irresponsible if I were to vote on representatives, etc.
Then vote for people in the same party as the person who you vote for President. It will help him get things accomplished. Most votes are along party lines.
I'm not aligned with any political party, and I am not casting a vote for the next president. I do not feel that I should be forced to vote for the lesser of two evils.
Posted by: Delta Ex Genesis
Posted by: SRQ baller24 When I decide to vote it will be when a politician doesn't lie or exaggerate the truth. So hence, I am never voting.
Implying your lack of a vote is relevant to anything.
It really is. Young people especially are notoriously absent from the polls. One vote doesn't make a difference, but millions of people hold that view, so millions of votes aren't cast every year.
