•
Posted by: nesteggfailure Eh ? I actually discovered perma-cammo on my own. Had to consult the interwebs on replicating it. (Was a glitch for me...imagine the surprise...) Sheesh. If you play enough.... So how do you know about 4's skulls, Sliding ? (Am old and don't know all the interweb tricks...)
At 0:23, you can see 13 skull icons at the bottom of the pause menu.

 •
Posted by: Quantam But the Mausoleum had a decent size battle. It's not everyday you see 4-5 Ultras with 5 Brute Chieftains in a room without thunderstorm.
I just wish they didn't have to be killed for more enemies to spawn. Honor Guard Councilor + 4 Hunters + 5 Ultras + around 10 Brutes + Drones + Stealth Elites = massive battle Truth and Reconciliation's hangar could have a massive number of Covies if you chose not to kill any of them. Also, up to 10 Zealots on Legendary. Enough said.
Posted by: Quantam I noticed this as well, with each Halo, the campaign game play became more and more stale.
Thanks for hearing me out. One thing that Halo 2 did well than the newer Halo games was not forcing a restart when turning on/off skulls. The addition of a skull menu introduced that cursed prompt which has been in every Halo game since (Halo 3, ODST, Reach, Anniversary, and likely Halo 4). Setting things up in Halo 2 is so much easier since you can turn on the skulls after you're done. You can also turn off Black Eye, allowing you to keep the overshields but without the no recharge effect. And Blind, which means you can practice for both LASO and SLASO instead of having to make 2 separate game saves. When I want my Heretics to throttle me, I turn on Angry and Catch. When I want them to fight better, I turn on Armory and Ghost. When I want to defend the lobby and landing zone, I turn on Black Eye, Ghost, and Catch. And who could forget perma camo? I'm disappointed that Halo 4 hasn't changed the skulls. [Edited on 10.06.2012 5:02 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: Sliding Ghost
Posted by: nesteggfailure Your Tartarus ideas sound fun there, hoss. My own exploits in a Banshee were sad. Beating him to death was something I never tried. Just always came to staring down the middle and firing carbine. It was just so far from the organic, sandbox feel of Halo, I don't think I could quite cross over to the "just another game" aspect. And H Leader...could you possibly make a more formulaic piece of crap...
It was an even bigger departure than Reach. Speaking of which, I should have seen Reach coming after fighting these bosses and my experiences in Halo 3 campaign. I still grieve the loss of: -faster paced cqc (without the crap lunge and with the ability to hit infection forms and inability to destroy combat forms) -intimidating Elites (before they began cheating, were nerfed because they were allies, and lost their graceful stance because of MP) -responsive strafe (Halo 2, Halo 3, and Reach would have easy if the player model had faster movement acceleration) -versatile sandbox (Needler: multiple supercombines, setting traps, being invincible; Plasma pistol: very fast and accurate main bolts, overcharge was good for stopping fleeing Grunts and pwning anything unshielded and un-Floody) -fun vehicles: vehicles didn't splatter me, didn't flip easily, their splatter was consistent, clipping through walls, pushing AI through walls -useful friendly AI: stayed in their seats, kept the enemy dodging, memorable voices
I noticed this as well, with each Halo, the campaign game play became more and more stale.

 •
Posted by: Sliding Ghost
Posted by: nesteggfailure There were enough horrible, blammy boss battles in that game. Halo made new formulas, i.e. - the combat is the puzzle...no need to separate the two. Why they even reverted to boss battles in the first place is beyond me.
Heretic leader: horribly cheap, the worst one of all. You try to move from where you spawn to cover, expect to die 12 times before achieving it. Safest and easiest way is to glitch: sword fly off of him and hide under the ramp. Get him to retreat by sticking him then sword fly to him. Otherwise, it's unbearable. Regret: I liked how there was no introduction. He could have felt like a conventional enemy. It's just a shame that I couldn't damage him with a direct rocket hit and had to board him to kill him. It's frustratingly annoying being flanked by a bunch of Covies and how you can't control which direction you get off when he teleports. Tartarus: the most disappointing. No checkpoints, not even the slightest change in pace other than several Brutes being called in. On the other hand, at least this battle didn't put you in a dangerous situation. It's actually possible to kill him using only melee. But again, it's too bad that he can kill you with 1 hit most of the time. Even on Easy. Easily exploitable, though I consider this a good thing; when I play the level, I never do it to fight Tartarus but to make an Elite army and watch epic large scale battles that were noticeably missing in Halo 2. I honestly regret ever desiring the Juggernaut. It'd inevitably be a damage sponge. :/
This. But the Mausoleum had a decent size battle. I already have Halo CE. I was expecting some things that added that weren't considered at the beginning of Halo. But nope, i only got HD graphics and a firefight map.

 • i watched Sherbox's video as Multi recommended, Sherbox used infinite health and ammo so it didn't count

 • Sliding Ghost i'm guessing a tactic to killing a jugger form would be to hide in the crashed Pelican and shoot it, you'll be safe because it can't fit inside? OT: not sure
