• I disagree, to a point. I like the fact that the Chief will have some human company. But more importantly that he seems to defy the chain of command for the first time in the history of Halo. Something I've always wanted. Iit's no longer about Mankind and the Covenant. It's about John and Cortana. The UNSC and the Storm are there to provide some familiarity and add to the plot. As do the Forerunners.

 •
Posted by: ROBERTO jh ...Except that's exactly what they're doing....... So the Covenant are in the game, as a secondary force, like the Flood were. The humans are there too. Big whoop. That suddenly throws all of the new stuff out the window? What, is a study of Cortana now impossible because an Elite is in the game? Is it impossible, now, for the Chief to be out of his element just because there are humans around? The Chief is out of his element because the enemies he is facing are beyond his abilities to handle. He is out of his element because he has to deal with a Commander who does not respect him, or Cortana. He is out of his element because he may need to go against his superior's orders and do what he, personally, feels is right. He is out of his element because he now has a close, inimate relationship with a dying, crazy AI. For a detatched, ask-no-questions super soldier, I'd say he's out of his element. But nope, there are humans in the game. Everything that could have been is now lost.
You don't understand what I meant, and I didn't really imply it which is my fault. The key word in my post was primarily. Adding the Humans and Covenant to the game put us in familiar territory from the get-go. Even if there are things in the game that are new, and there is what I described above there it is still backed by the traditional setting of any Halo game. It solidifies the gameplay to a particular theme. The only game that broke this was ODST, and that's because we lost of of the two defining elements of a Halo game - Being a supersoldier. The gameplay of ODST was entirely different and gave us a glimpse of what Halo could become. You list all of these things that are putting MC out of his element, but the setting itself is not so. You entire list is still grounded in a traditional Halo scenario which will lessen the blow of such things. I'd have preferred to see Chief dealing with Cortana and her possible rampancy alone. Without orders, without the help of any command. No mission, just what he wants and what he thinks is right. That would be out of his element.

But I doubt it will detract from Halo 4's main story, its main focus, which is MC+Cortana and the planet: Requiem.

 •
Posted by: anton1792 These books don't deal with the fallout of the Human-Covenant war and about how Humanity and the Sangheili might go about interacting with each other in that time. They deal with the authors gripes about Humanity, and about how 343i can have the Elites as enemies again for Halo 4.
Right on the mark. My biggest issue with Halo 4 is not the change to the Forerunner's tech (which apparently was hinted at in books I have not read), nor the fact that the setting is essentially Halo CE all over again. My problem is that they specifically state they want to take MC out of his element, and instead they bring back the UNSC and make the Covenant enemies again. That is the exact opposite of putting him in a situation he is unfamiliar with, and 343i has tried their darndest to get Elites back as enemies in this game. They missed a huge opportunity to primarily focus on the Forerunners, possibly the Precursors and Master Chief's relationship with Cortana as well as the psyche of Smart AI's and how they deal with their extremely short life spans. They'd rather shoehorn in the tried and true formula that is, at this point, holding the game back from evolving (no pun intended).

Anyways, that place is a paradise.

They take it for granted, as if the horrors of glassing never occurred. Either Traviss is setting up ONI as the bad guys and will portray them more negatively in the 3rd book, or this will be accepted by humans being dicks holding up flags shouting UNSC!
I think Paragnosky has been put under a dark light, and made to look evil. While i believe infinity is mainly a card to get all other races to look again at humanity, and put them in that position of if you dare touch us, you are in for a whole world of pain. A political card, no one will want to mess with the humans, especially, if not seeing this comming, they do not know how many more are on the way. Another reason i believe is that the rebellion and this infinity looks like a great act. No joke, put up a rebellion, and give them false hope. Have them threaten your ally, and come in with cavalry to save the day, and wipe rebellion out of existence. Increases friendship between both humanity and elites, and not only that, helps them organize the enemies of humanity, and to make them an easy target, and easy to distinguish from the rest of the population. Annihilate them and you have less to worry about.

 •
Posted by: Wolverfrog Leaks for other developers' games are posted on The Flood all the time. Why should it be any different just because it's Halo?
And they always get lock to, bungie doesn't support leaks of any kind.

 • I'm fairly sure that even if it was considered a leak, this wouldn't be closed anyway because it's not a leak regarding a Bungie product. Leaks for other developers' games are posted on The Flood all the time. Why should it be any different just because it's Halo?
