And I love it so far. I will admit, its a bit slow to start, and the controls are a bit confusing, but they are minor problems that I'm sure I will work out. I just got Garrus to join my squad.
I plan on getting the second and third games soon.
So, I'm asking for tips, advice or any help that you guys can provide to a new comer to the Mass Effect universe.
Posted by: Tartan 118 Enjoy it, because I didn't.
Same, found it a bit too slow for my tastes. Seems like I'm in the minority though.

Story wise, it's the best game in the series. I have a feeling that you'll find Mass Effect 2 the best in the series though.

According to your perception, ME3 would be more RPG than 1. However, RPG is not about endless inventory management, pick-ups or skillsets. Might not believe it, but it's really about the possibility of "role-playing"! (shocker, I know) Mass Effect 2 still allows that pretty well, maybe even better than 1. Just Mass Effect 3 drops the ball there, even with more skills, armors and weapon-upgrades it's impossible to call it RPG because you are constantly forced to a lot of actions.
Posted by: THE 100 DEAD
Posted by: jross1993 What a coincidence! I just finished Mass Effect today. Sentinal > All.
I think you meant to say Vanguard.
Haven't played Vanguard in the first game yet. Once I finish ME2/3 again (and after an appropriate amount of time), I might give it a go.
Posted by: lonepaul2441 Tips? Keep an eye on your weapons and things upgrade them when you get the change. Also if somebody in here is telling you to go to some mission/look out for an item or to kill somebody don't listen to them. Its your game your playthrough not theirs, do what you want.
Well if he did what I did and not get the squadmate until late on he might not care at all about the character, who happens to be imporant in a way. I never really cared about them in ME2 and only in ME3 I thought "-blam!-, maybe I should have rescued this person earlier."

Oh, and it helps if you go to shops later on in the game and buy some stuff. Sometimes they'll have really good armour and equipment that you haven't found.
-
here's a tip: if you don't check you item inventory regularly, you are going to have a bad time.

if you play it right, you kill all of your squadmates by the end of the 3rd game.
Posted by: MORTO_hi I finished my Insanity playthrough a few hours ago.
I have been meaning to do that for a month now... I really should.
-
Pick squadmates to use for the entire game and stick by them, or else you won't get their achievements. And hang in there till ME2, the combat gets 10x better.
-
Save often on Noveria.
-
Use the Paragon/Renegade glitch on the snow planet to get your achievement out of the way quickly. Also, what class are you playing?

The first ME has some serious lag issues and long ass loading times. Installing it on the hard drive will make a huge difference with those issues.
Posted by: Shiro2809 Or: Answer how you'd actually answer. I find anyone that just goes 'pure paragon' or 'pure renegade' stupid, and I find that they're playing it wrong =/
Posted by: TheMouthOfSauron Wrex is a sensitive creature, don't hurt his feelings. And I'd definitely recommend playing entirely Paragon. Renegade options really serve no purpose other than -blam!-gery.

But I find most of the paragon option more fitting to me, though in ME3 they kinda mixed it up....he still seemed like an ass as a true renegade but some options were actually had reasonable decisions.
Posted by: Shiro2809 Or: Answer how you'd actually answer. I find anyone that just goes 'pure paragon' or 'pure renegade' stupid, and I find that they're playing it wrong =/
That might be the case in Mass Effect 1 and 3, but Mass Effect 2 somewhat forces you to go either full Paragon or Renegade, now that charm and intimidate are based directly on your Paragon and Renegade score. The best way to resolve this is to get the perk that gives your Paragon and Renegade a boost. I always tried to max that branch out as quickly as possible. [Edited on 07.08.2012 6:46 AM PDT]
