That means you die.
If you die before you were able to go back in time and kill yourself, you never get the chance to go back in time and kill yourself, and as such, you are alive.
Would that mean that nothing you did would hurt your younger self?

That's why time traveling to the past is impossible.
-
going back in time is impossible.
-
...and thus the TV show Fringe was born.

You would probably enter an alternate timeline when you go back, so there are no paradoxes
-
Why would i kill myself? Might have to kill you instead. Damned paradoxical questions.

1. Go into another universe that's in the past. 2. Kill yourself with no effect on your universe. 3. ??? 4. Profit.
-
Here's a better question. If you went back in time and killed yourself. Would it be homicide or suicide?

And thus we learned that humanity should never learn the secrets of time travel.
Posted by: Cortland_Brewer
Posted by: petitminou Lrn2notparadox
I know it's a paradox, but if we can travel through time, we could theoretically create one, and I want to know what would happen.
I don't think changing the past would really alterate the future. IMO parrallel universe, I would just steal everything and go back home.
-
Well, that just means you really wanted to kill yourself, just at a younger age.
-
Posted by: AaronG67 But, when you think about it, that would mean that the traveller would have already tried to kill the grandfather, and failed. So he'll fail this time, too.
Except replace "The grandfather" with "his younger self." Almost the same thread three times in three days? *Sigh*
Posted by: Corporate Action So if you go back in time, and are now in Timeline B instead of Timeline A, does that mean if you go forward in time after going back in time ( and end up in Timeline B), you can't get back to Timeline A?
Yes, You will just go forward in time in timeline B You can only get back to timeline A if you live in the 5th dimension. Sigh. Guess who doesn't understand timeline and predetermined paradoxes.
Posted by: Omega 343 There's no such thing as "time" it is made up to help organized our life
But it is a thing. Its been proven that gravity slows down time, hence why you age faster and clocks more faster in space. [Edited on 04.25.2012 4:48 AM PDT]

When you went back in time, you created an alternate reality. You dont exist in this reality anymore (because you killed yourself) but you go on normally in your original reality, Up to the point that you went back.
