The Bungie Community and The Bungie Foundation
I was browsing around the forums when a concept came to me: Is there a way to have the Bungie.net Community participate in supporting The Bungie Foundation.
For those of you unfamiliar with it, [url=http://www.bungie.net/Inside/foundation.aspx]The Bungie Foundation[/url] is Bungie's way of giving back to the world. Aimed toward suffering children, The Bungie Foundation takes profit from the Bungie Shop and purchases iPads, which are then filled with kid-friendly content and donated to hospitals in a hope to aid children who are suffering.
Now we can already help make a difference by purchasing premium Bungie Swag from the [url=http://www.bungiestore.com/]Bungie Store[/url], but I was hoping to facilitate a way for the community to make a more direct contribution to The Bungie Foundation and its cause.
This whole idea sparked from [url=http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=69482384&postRepeater1-p=4#69492418]this post[/url], in which I suggested that users could buy a "token" that would allow for a one-time member name-change. It was an idea to allow people the flexibility of selecting a new name but attempting to reduce the amount of name change spamming. That's when it occurred to me! What if, instead of such profits going to Bungie, the profits went straight to The Bungie Foundation?! 100%
Bungie has such a powerful community, and The Bungie Foundation has such a powerful goal. The two are perfect for each other.
What do you, the community, think? What other ideas could be implemented to garner aid for suffering children through The Bungie Foundation?

Is anyone on good terms with anybody Studio-side? I would love to know a general consensus on how Bungie Studios would feel about having the community get involved.

back in halo 3 they told every one to change there emblems to a heart and they would give money to charity,[url=http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/07/dress-your-avatar-in-bungie-finery-for-charity/]or the avatar t-shirt thing thay did[/url] they should do something of that kind but for the forum based community.

I see a lot of users wanting more Destiny/Custom shirts in the Bungie store. Bungie should let the community submit a few shirt designs for the Bungie store. Of course you wouldn't get any royalties on it. But the profit received would go to the Bungie foundation.

[/quote] I would imagine come the newest hawtness at the earliest; there's really no point in changing stuff when a substantial revamp is more than likely in the works. If I had to bet on the time frame, I'd put it between August this year to this time next year.

Maybe they should take the top-selling items and put a percentage of that, or a higher percentage if they already put a percentage, toward The Bungie Foundation. Possibly, they can also feature items in the homepage of the store that explicitly profit the foundation. Also, they should make new advertisements (ones that replace the Noble Map Pack ones) and these ads would feature The Bungie Store and The Bungie Foundation. [Edited on 01.21.2012 12:56 PM PST]

Some ideas for shirts: - Pathways into Darkness shirt[url=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b9/Pathways_into_darkness-93_box_art.png] Kind of like the box art on the shirt[/url] - Myth Shirt - Oni shirt - Marathon shirt - Legacy shirt: Oni, Marathon, Halo, Myth, etc all on one shirt.

I really like the idea of have a direct impact on the foundation. Since I'm on my mobile, I'll just spout a couplel ideas correlating with the name change idea. - A custom avatar for one year (or a one time payment per new custom avatar) - A special title (some people would [b]really[/b] like that) That's really about it. I've always been for these kinds of features for members that have been here for an extended period of time to add value to their account. Yet, what's a better investment than actually investing?
