I find it a bit more realistic. Bullet spread would happen at a higher rate of fire.

Actually I now understand how bloom should have been. What one of yous said down below or something, the mechanics of bloom and how it should have been.
Guys, really? This thread is way too serious... Like, stop commenting... D:

it lowers the skill gap, yeah, but is that such a bad thing see my other post http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=66785015&postRepeater1-p=1#66786062

HC WhiteRabbit I'm with you on this one. I don't really mind it but still. [Edited on 12.12.2011 4:43 AM PST]
Posted by: iNinjaVVen Because I have a brain. That's why I hate bloom.
-
I'm indifferent. I don't really care about it.
-
It was a gameplay mechanic that wasn't implemented as well as it should have been. I don't hate it; I merely disliked it. Only the tryhards would go as far as to say that they hate it.
-
I hate bloom because it makes the assault rifle seem impossible to use.
-
Posted by: Bartybum I find it more realistic.
My game about genetically enhanced supersoldiers killing each other and growing back better be pretty damned realistic.

because shooting like a madman is fun

I don't hate bloom. I'm a good player and I can deal with it.
Posted by: UnsuccesfulTroll
Posted by: Cavik Akavelle
Posted by: UnsuccesfulTroll Well, if you want to be realistic, do you really think that a SPARTAN will feel the kickback of the rifle? Remember that they weight a lot and they are also very strong in that armor. I know that those spartan III suck but, still!!!
Depends on the round the rifle fires.
Well, I dont know anything about guns but, I checked and this is the bullet it uses. Doesnt seem pretty big. We need a COD gun expert to give his opinion.
Good to know, thanks for the link. Actually, that recoil does make sense. The 7.62x51mm (aka the .308 Winchester) is strong round. I found a video of a regular guy shooting a gun that fires the exact same round: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NzYT6fByIY&feature=related Actually, now I feel like the bloom in Reach with the DMR isn't as ridiculous as I did before, but it still doesn't make sense to me that even while holding still and aiming through a scope, a Spartan couldn't fire the rifle quicker/more accurately.
Posted by: Viper Skills
Posted by: Akamia179 No, you see, I did that after burst firing. I can't make heads or tails that way.
I don't even know what you're saying at this point, sorry. The Halo 3 SMG has bloom.
Maybe it would help if there was a video... Testing it myself didn't work, I guess.

I'm saying I didn't see a change in accuracy. I saw a set bullet spread.
Yes, the rounds spread out. But in this kind of discussion, the term "spread" is used to identify a weapon mechanic that the Halo 3 Battle Rifle had. Spread is where one or two rounds go to random locations, regardless of what rate of fire was being utilized by the user.
Precisely. Now, maybe I'm seeing this because I'm shooting at 2 bullets a burst when I test (rate-of-fire being too fast for just 1), and when I do that, it looks like spread instead of Bloom. I don't think it's Bloom.
Because you aren't going to see bloom in action when you are burst-firing two rounds at a time. Fire fully-automatic and you will see bloom.
No, you see, I did that after burst firing. I can't make heads or tails that way.
Posted by: Viper Skills
Posted by: Akamia179 Tested the SMG last week. It's not there. I'm sure of it.
Test it again. The rounds do not come out in a straight line - they weapon becomes more inaccurate the more the user holds down the trigger. That is bloom.
I know that.
Posted by: Akamia179 Does a BB gun count?
Lol. No.
Posted by: RC Clone I guess we should just cut all of that stuff out and make Halo another cookie cutter shooter.
You should see some of the suggestions on the Halo 4 Waypoint forums. Some of them are flat out depressing.
Posted by: Viper Skills
Posted by: Akamia179
Posted by: Viper Skills I have already debunked the realism idea. I feel I need to now make a thread proclaiming to the world that bloom was NOT in previous Halo games. It was on automatic weapons (where it doesn't matter) and the other weapons had a spread, which is not the same as bloom. I don't know where people are getting the "The BR had bloom!" BS from.
It's not on autos, either. Not on the Halo 3 SMG, at least.
Yes it is.
Tested the SMG last week. It's not there. I'm sure of it.
Posted by: Viper Skills
Posted by: Akamia179
Have you ever fired a real weapon in your entire life? If so, what was it?
Does a BB gun count? I'm not arguing for realistic guns. If a game wants realistic guns (or not) then go on with it, it's not important to me. I'm talking about generalized realism. You know, the kind you have to train for. I find that it's good to give more to train for.

I wonder how people can argue for realism when this series has Alien invasions. Shields. Ancient aliens. Space zombies. plasma weapons. Warp speed. I guess we should just cut all of that stuff out and make Halo another cookie cutter shooter.
