To start this thread off, I do not consider myself a religious person. I believe if you want to practice a religion you are well within your rights to do so as long as you do not infringe on other peoples rights.
This particular Facebook post has went too far. He is basically attacking the gamers, homosexuals, and hobbiests (sorry airplane modelers) saying that they are all sinners. In my opinion this is completely unacceptable in this time period. I don't care if you are anti-homosexuality, but more than likely you are all gamers.
I was going to comment with what I thought, but it's best avoid the flame war with people I know IRL and just remove him.
What do you think about these types of posts?

I think youve achieved..

Stop being a whiny bitch.
I don't care if you are anti-homosexuality
lol

Why are you sharing this with us?

That is NOT what he is doing at all... He is saying that we look for temporary comfort and joy in the things of this world in order to ease the pain and frustrations. Instead of those things that only satisfy for a short amount of time, Jesus will satisfy you for an eternity. THAT is what he is saying!
-
He didn't say hobbies were sins, he said trying to use them as everlasting satisfaction was.
-
I don't see the problem here, you're just easily offended
-
I think video games do an excellent job filling the void inside me, they offer all the escapism I need without the pressure of a moral agent in the sky.
-
He didn't actually call them sinners he is just saying that no matter how hard you try in this world to satisfy your needs they will never be completely satisfied. When he said "no matter how much you commit sin" he was probably referring mostly to homosexuals and people that have sex extremely frequently with many different partners.

That's really not that inflammatory. It's also standard shit as far as religion is concerned and easily ignored.
-
An idiot being an idiot, laugh at him and then move on.
-
That's his opinion and I don't care what he has to say. I Would not argue with him over Facebook about it.
-
These types of posts annoy me, after I see 2 from the same person I just make it so that they don't show up in my newsfeed.
-
He's an idiot.

Edited by Jamie Russell: 1/16/2013 10:29:45 PMI don't think you quite realize what the Christian mindset is with sin. Most Christians I know (admittedly, I live up in Delaware where its pretty liberal and most of them are Evangelical) believe that sin is something everyone struggles with. It's okay to sin so long as you acknowledge that it's wrong and you try to find that connection with God. Something like that, my sister recently became a very devoted Christian. I always had problems with Christianity, but we have really good debates on this shit from time to time. Granted, it's kind of wrong to say include hobbies in there, but I'm pretty sure the point was more or less than Christ comes first.
This religious Facebook post has went too far
That sense doesn't even make. Also, just ignore people like that. There's nothing you can do about brainwashing.
-
To put it bluntly, that made me want to vomit on my screen... However, it's his opinion and belief. He's free to share it just as anyone else is free to share theirs.
-
He's entitled to his opinion. Just as you're entitled to yours.
-
Anyone else laugh when they saw "hobbies" in that list? I didn't know I was sinning whenever I go fishing.
-
I bet he plays video games.
-
Are you saying you don't find satisfaction in video games and hobbies? Then why do you partake of them?
-
Arguing over what someone said on facebook. What a grand idea.
-
Edited by Faux Noise: 1/16/2013 9:58:47 PMHe isn't attacking anyone. He's just voicing his belief's.

Haha Facebook posts like this make me laugh.
