It's been a long time coming, but this Community project has finally been made public! :D
The purpose of this FAQ is to help newer and older members alike (but more so for newer members) by answering many commonly asked questions. Countless hours have gone into making this idea a reality, and it would never have been realized without the help of many individuals from the FAQ group.
This thread is to discuss the Bungie.net FAQ, to help improve it, and to help with any additional questions users may have.

I was just banned for "quiting." I have not quit one game in a long time. I do however have a pretty bad connection that will cause me to lagout of xbox live about 10 times a day. I was told that the ban system could tell the difference. Help would be much appreciated.

[/quote]Sorry for the long response time. The system can indeed tell the difference between lagging out and quitting, you are correct. This has been confirmed by Bungie. However, both will still result in a Quit Ban when done in excess. Leaving games ruins the game for others. The risk you are taking when playing with a sub-par connection is your own, and the consequences for it hurting the experience for others are the bans. 10 games a day is a LOT of quits. Therefore it isn't surprising that you're getting the Quit Ban. I'm sorry, but it is completely intentional that you are getting caught in it. Take it as a warning. Don't play for a time. Or fix your connection. But it is necessary. Sorry! Hope my explanation helped you though!

Thanks! The ban does not bother me, mostly because its only for like 10 minutes but I just dont like being labeled as a quiter. Thanks for the help.

Im not sure if this is a ban or a problem with the halo reach surver, but everytime when i get on it says im a recruit with default armor. yet when i go ofline or into armory it shows the armor i have. None of my commendation or Cr points have been taken away. Im not sure waht ive done for this to happen but can someone tell me how to fix it? i dont like going around with a recruit rank and being a colonel -.-

I switched xboxs and dont have my armor from preordering the game... im not sure where it could have gone? any help? ive been through the download history and tried entering in the code again but it says its invalid now

If you don't want to try that, just go to your xbox download history and try downloading them again. You probably need to do a license sync though. I downloaded the Noble Map Pack earlier today. However, when I try to play the premium playlist (I also have the defiant map pack), it doesn't work. I also cannot play the Noble Maps in Forge/Custom. Help please?! [Edited on 06.26.2011 3:39 PM PDT]

Edit: Side note, it might not be a bad idea to add something about nameplates up there...then again not sure what will happen to those come Halo Transfer Day. [Edited on 06.26.2011 4:05 PM PDT]

why is bungie banning people for not playing or they call it AFK it is just because they are pissed that they cant make a good game with great graphics and have sucky servers with horrible armor attachments like armor lock like seriously they must fix that and they have to stop acting like childs and let people play how ever they want like really its just a rank and its not like the people who got reset arent going to hack it again? they seriously need to rethink they whole lives and there upcoming games or else no one is going to buy them because they just reset anyone they like because they have no lives and they should use their lives to actually improve their games instead making them worse by banning people so they can hack and make it worse. before it was just Cr hack and now it unlimited ammo, wall hack, unlimited armor ability hack, and rank hacks as well as many others. so just stop acting like children and let the community do whatever they want and if you dont want people to hack then make the game hack-proof or hire a hacker to prevent hacks. just fix your games and staff and you wont get so much hate mail.

Hi i have a problem with the forge gameplay, and I hope you can help me with it. The problem is that when I creat a new map and saving it I cant play in it. When I try to play in it the map wont reload and it will say that "User content is not permitted". The weird thing is that I allready play few of my maps that i created in forge, and I dont understand why I'm not permitted because in the account management it say's that I do allowed to play Xbox live (silver I dont have Gold). So please if you can help that will be awsome, thanks.

After my crappy original email basically never received any bungie.net verification emails, I finally found the link to switch the email for my windows live account. After doing so and verifying, I was able to successfully make a Bungie.net account just recently. So I went onto file search and looked for my favorite game types and maps, and clicked to download them, and I got the success message for every download. However, when I went onto reach, they didn't download, and furthermore, when I checked my recent downloads page on my file share, nothing showed up except for these 3 obscure maps I had never heard of. What's going on?

Tomahawk I have two questions. First what is the name of the gamertag you wanted to download files to? Secondly, note that if your xbox is on it wont download. Restart your xbox and files can begin.

Gamertag is same: Tomahawk00984 I have a memory unit, not hard drive, hopefully that's not the problem though. It's not on. I turn it off after every session, and it's been off all night.

Ok. Please forgive my typos as I am typing via my phonee and I suck with this thing. The reason I asked the first question is becauseI have seen people somehow managing to link a random GT so I wanted to mKe sure youra was right (though based on the name it seemed obvious but you may hVe had a second account and linked that first one). Now, to be honest I am not as familiar with the requirements for downloading as I should be. So I could be mistaken here... But I think I do recall some people who lacked a harddrive having that problem. In any event, it seems a likely cause. I apologize that I cannot be of more help, but I do not want to give you some for sure reason when I am not actually sure myself.

that's okay. I expected it may be a hard drive issue. Otherwise, I would have been able to download all those maps and gametypes directly on my xbox, but as it is, File Share isn't available unless I have a hard drive.

The "How do I submit news to the Comm Chatter" needs to be updated because of the website update.
