Update, after many years, It's the Knucklehead Radar
Now that the Defiant Map pack is officially public, I found some pics on the interwebs that shows a new helmet.

What do you think, is this a new helmet?
Some key points posted over the following pages
I want to clear up a few terms here. I have read every page of this thread the last few days, not a post has gone unchecked. Somethings I'm about to go over ARE in fact restatements of things others have said, but none the less need to be stated again.
The first thing every intelligent person in this thread can agree on is this: The helmet and chest piece we see in these pictures have never been seen before. Not in Reach, Halo 3, and as far as I can tell, not in any Bungie title, unlike some other armor (security).
The second thing we can agree on is that the ONLY spartan to have armor other then default is the fancy British one with this monocle and necklace. This points out one very clear thing for me: they did that on purpose so people could find it, and create 2k+ post threads. That's a free ad right there, better then something you'll see on the sidebar of Facebook. It's the same thing that Bungie did with they're ODST interview videos. One person finds this site, another person finds the code, and now 10k posts later, people are more excited for the game. That's all we're seeing, just in a lower scale.
But now the question begs, where did this armor come from? Some people seem to think that it's and old build of the game, and the armor is cut. First off that's near impossible. Why make a map pack for a finished game, but base it off old code? For the map pack would not work on the current build of the game. Secondly, the dev (Certain Affinity) would not even have access to any other build. Thirdly, the building of the map pack began after release, unlike Noble. So this cannot be the answer.
So that leaves the possibility of it being hidden on the disk, or being downloaded. Before I get into this, let me say I did not code Reach in any way shape or form, so I do not know the capabilities of the engine fully. What I DO understand is general game design, and how to find things in the "code", which is really just a file directory.
In my opinion, I think the new armor is going to be in a download. And that is because I cannot find it on the disk. Now I'm sure people that disagree with me are getting ready to pull out the old "Disk Locked", or "Otto Said balh blah". Here is my rebuttal. It is called "Data Mining".
The difference between modding and data mining is that modders just set their credits to 9999999999 and boot up the game. Data mining is the act of looking the games code for things not easily seen on-game.
I did not mod my x-box to unlock everything like you may think. Oh no. I'm using a modded version of a program called "MyWarcraftStudio". This allows anyone to enter the file system of the game "World of Warcraft", and then fiddle with them as such. I used to make mods for the game, oh, 3 years ago I think, towards the end of BC. This is besides the point.
Using the program, I inserted a Reach disk, and was able to begin to browse the folders. I found folders for every piece of armor, the corresponding attachments, and armor effects. Including UA chest, Officer, Flames, and Bungie Blue Flames. I did not find anything that I could not identify. While it is not impossible I my have missed anything that is still hidden on this disk, however if I did, there is not much more to come. This leads me to why I believe the armor will be downloaded: simple fan cry out.
We begged all halo 3 long for Blood Gulch. We got it. We begged since Halo CE for pelicans. We got it, even if it is hidden. We cried to nerf the BR, and yes, we got it. And one of our biggest pleas was for new armor. Why oh why oh why would they not incorporate this into a game that they basically re-built from the ground up? Especially when the focus on a vast armory for the players is one of the main focus points of the game?
Now I'm sure a bunch of you that pulled out your other arguments are saying right now that new armor would only be used in the new maps. To think that this could not be fixed with a simple title update would be so naive that it may warrant and IQ test.
So ion short, due to me not finding it while physically scrolling through code, the large outcry for it, the simplicity and likelihood of an updated armory system, and the shear near impossibility of a new map being build off an old system, I must come to the conclusion that the most likely outcome is that the code for the new armor's visuals will be beamed to my Xbox when the pack comes out, and the code for wearing it will be beamed when I buy the maps.
Posted by: JABBERWOCK xeno It's likely both gungir and EOD, there are various glitches that can spawn odd armor combinations. Though none that I know of where you are still controling your charecter...
Doesn't explain the 'collar' piece on the Spartan that has nothing that resembles it; it's a smooth black 'molded' collarpiece. Also, there's nothing that has that eyepiece thing, either. GUNGNIR has a tiny ass camera, not a huge monocle. The little nub on the brow of it, the red light/button/vent thing also has no explanation. It's new in some form or another.

kinda like the security helmet's 2nd attachment without a visor.
-
compare the eod and gungnir helmets. look at the bottom. i think their going to make it like the pilot, where it's an attachment. it would be a gungnir helmet without a visor cover. that's probably what's behind the cover.
-
Yeah a lot of people have nick named it the B.O.B. Helmet because it looks like something from Marathon? I dont remember It was another helmet conspiracy theory. Doesn't hurt to dream rite?
-
messed up helmet i wish it was tho
Posted by: Mister375 I think you're all going to be sorely dissapointed. This is all just a bunch of speculation that has very little grounds for "proof." Though I guess we'll all see in time. Considering this thread was started saying "its coming with the DLC," and look what that got you. I doubt we're going to see any of this crap, in ANY DLC in the future, even from 343i. But go ahead and keep obsessing over it, be my guest.
Actually there is a title update coming that will allow 343i to modify the game of reach in ways never before possible =) So looks like your negativity is wasted here XD

Well if you read the bungie aerospace thing or whatever it says something about another new treat for the bungie mobile users in one of the aerospace questions.

yes but for example, the eod helmet is lighter in color than the rest of the armor
-
This reminds me of the BOBs from marathon...
-
I found the BOB helmet.....sort of.... ONI BOB lol
-
if it is new helmet it is very ugly.. reminds me of predator in a way
-
thank you for bringing halo reach out it was one of the best ones in my opinion and if there is anyone who wants to join my clan visit my website and put your gamertag into the forum and ill get in touch on xbox the website is www.teamtakedown.webeden.co.uk
-
Another note -- I've unlocked every achievement for every Halo games (Wars, 2PC, 3, ODST, Reach) including Marathon and it's unlocked nothing. My guess is a CE tie in OR something the community hasn't hit (the aforementioned "milestones").
-
I think that it might be released on this years bungie day cause think about it they just gave us blue flames and the two nameplates so as going out on a bang what if they gave us a chance to get the helmet......wouldn't that be awesome if bungie did that??
-
I think it might be a helmet you unlock with some vidmasters from halo annivesery, since we can add armor since the latest xboxlive update.
-
Maybe it's the 343 "recon" Seeing as that was their first map pack, plus they'll be doing stuff for reach as of the 8/7 Maybe it's an unlock for Halo Combat Evolved HD.
-
i liked the box thing. as for the helmet it could just be something bungie did to screw with people.
-
With the new Blue Flames Armor Effect availible to people with the iPhone (and then everyone for Bungie week), does that mean Bungie doesn't need a MASSIVE update for a DLC Armor pack? Or were those Blue Flames there from the get go?
-
I would simply settle for logical reasons behind the easter eggs spotted in this video, could this new helmet be exclusive to bungie members? or will it be released to the public? Hopefully all will be revealed on Bungie Day!
-
OMG MAYBE THEY'LL GIVE US THIS ON BUNGIE DAYYYY! That would be cool.

Okay, after watching the video you can tell he's simply hiding it. Maybe they are starting to listen to us, maybe not. Helmet, does look a little like EOD and Gungnir but the scope is bigger than Gungnir and actually has a visor on it, unlike the scope on Operator, plus, there are some things that the other helmets lack that this one doesn't. They need new Forge World regions though, that is something they can do. Forge World is based on the Halo, the Halo has many regions, legitimate suggestion.
Posted by: Shadow 13th
Posted by: Black Vertigo Since multiplayer for Halo: Anniversary uses Reach's multiplayer code, it is entirely possible that the screenshot was made in Anniversary's multiplayer. This would make sense, because it was confirmed that adding armor to Reach would be nearly impossible. Most of you are assuming that the multiplayer for Anniversary is simply updating Reach. I believe that it will be a separate MP from Reach, thus requiring other people to have Anniversary's disk in order to access the new content and maps.
So you mean to say that there will be two different versions of Reach's multiplayer that are not compatible with each other? Not likely. That doesn't sense. Franky said that they considered including CE multiplayer as it was but they didn't want to split the Halo fan base over two games like that.
They said that the CEA disk would have the remastered online multiplayer maps and those maps only, but you could also install them on your Xbox so that it will show up on your Reach disk when you use that to look at multiplayer so it's perfectly possible that armor could be included as well.
