What are Shiny Weapons?
I keep hearing YouTubers talk about shiny weapons and how to farm them.
That's great and all but what are shiny weapons?
What's my motivation for going after weapons that I'm clueless about?

4 RepliesEdited by rottingvermin: 5/4/2024 2:06:49 PMThe one I’ve gotten so far has double perks in column 3&4. And to be honest,I think the game made a mistake giving it to me because it was from the Succession quest. Edit.And yeah they have a dumb ornament you can’t shade.

'Shinies' are rare versions of the weapons you get from the new onslaught activity. There are sort of 2 versions: 1. The ones you get from shaxx in the hall of champions after completing weapon quests from arcite. These have a special ornament/appearence, have fixed rolls, and come pre masterworked. You can get one of each weapon this way. The perk rolls are not great, but not terrible. 2. Random shiny drops. These also have the special ornament and come pre masterworked but have random rolls and come with extra perks in columns three & four. These are the ones everybody wants.

1 ReplyIt’s like hunting for a shiny pokemon. If you have a good normal roll you are good, but why would you want the normal charizard when you could have a shiny charizard

The “shiny” weapons are rare versions of the BRAVE weapons. They are a limited-time drop with double perks options, they come fully masterworked, and have a limited-time ornament that can drop in place of any drop of a BRAVE weapon you earn. You receive an example of each when you complete the weapon quests from Arcite, although these are set rolls that can be hit or miss. Most of the reason to grind them is to flex as the ornament will not be available after Final Shape launches: double perks can be handy but the odds you get the roll you want on a shiny is already low, nevermind getting the roll you want and some extra good perks to swap to. In a practical sense, they offer little to no advantage (barring a few extreme exceptions that will likely be nerfed or made completely unexploitable in the near future) so whether they sound worth it to you is mostly just if you think limited time cosmetics are cool.

1 ReplyThe only thing special about shiny weapons is that they are shiny, nothing more. There is no special mods or effects, no special action or look other than being shiny.

The shiny weapons are called "limited time" and roll with double perks, not the ones you get by doing the bounties but the random drops do. So they are Brave weapons with double perks, and they got a shiny shader. You get them true RNG.
