Sunset gear, make gear that basically invalidates it, then revert sunsetting.

I'm not really affected by it as the only sunsetted item I kept and deleted was a better Redrix than what you can pull out of collections, but it still baffles me what goes through their minds. "Power creep" Not wanting players to be so attached to old gear we'll never try new gear. Or, as many argued, pinnacle weapons were the reason for it (doesn't explain all the other weapons sunsetted). Here's how I see it: Power creep can't be the issue if we have better gear before taking the power cap into account. Some of those weapons might lean more towards one mode or the other, but hand cannons with Rapid Hit/ Kill Clip are usually not considered the "best" over something like Voltshot/ Dragonfly, one with Killing Wind/ Eye of the Storm, or Opening Shot/ Slideshot. That's also not taking subclass synergy and artifacts into account. Not wanting to use new gear? Maybe the new gear doesn't compare, maybe it's trash, maybe the models suck? Bad sights? Zaouli is definitely one of the best legendary hand cannons in the game, but either I'm a terrible shot with it, or it's model and/ or sights are so bad that I feel like I spend as much time trying to find the sights or the target with over 60 stability as I spend shooting the target, a problem I don't have on weapons like Igneous Hammer or Spare Rations. Pinnacle weapons can't possibly be the issue when all but I think 6 have yet to be reprised. But they have reprised all the pinnacle perks, or at least the weapons in 3 recent cases, except Archer's Gambit, Meganeura, and Reversal of Fortune on other weapons. To top it off, even though they nerfed several of the perks, they did make and reprise weapons that can get comparable or better rolls. Such as Loaded Question being able to get Envious Assassin/ Reservoir Burst, or at least 2 scout rifles (Hung Jury and Chelchis) with 2 AOE perks at once. And now the power cap is being removed like it should've been ages ago since our levels make basically no difference in most activities, which the number of I'd increasing btw: Strikes Gambit (Come FS) Normal and legendary campaign Nightfalls PVP except Trials Master dungeons and raids Exotic missions, higher levels of which currently cap us below Neomuna caps us below Legend Dares Seasonal story missions and activities And to top it off, they fully acknowledged that the group power leveling would effectively negate power caps on gear. So an attempt that's probably meant to make the game more casual/ welcoming to new and lower players, they had enough foresight to realize "this change that no one asked for will be pointless if we do this, but doing this will mean better player relations, and better relations means more money". Now as another player "more plainly" put it. We started at 10, sunsetting nerfed us to 4, now after everything, we're back to 9, a pointless stunt then if we're going to come full circle with more tools at our disposal, effectively turning that 9 we're currently at into an 20. Tldr: Sunsetting was as pointless as our leveling system has been for years now.
