My friend who hadn't played Destiny since Beyond Light release decided to come back for Into the Light this weekend. We had a blast, did the first mission of Lightfall, then the first mission of Season of the Wish, and then did some farming in Onslaught. (Side note: We did get a red border weapon from the intro quest to Season of the Wish, that pattern unlocked fine because my friend did the traditional inspect and extract pattern process. This seems to be a bug with dismantling to extract the pattern.) We set our sights on Legend Onslaught, so we thought the logical next step was to craft Apex Predator. So two hours later we had done a run of Prophecy and various Dreaming City activites to get 5 wish tokens. Come to find out after it was too late, that purchasing 5 red border Apex Predator's from the Queen and dismantling them does not unlock the patterns unless you've done the intro mission of the Witch Queen. TL;DR: Bungie; please look into this and set it right. New and Returning players; please follow the intro to the Witch Queen, and unlock crafting at the enclave before dismantling any red border weapons...
