I agree that maybe the "planting of the seed" so to speak wasn't intentional, but happened all the same. I disagree that the visions from the Device have nothing to do with the garden. Everything in the book of unveiling is an allegory for forces beyond our comprehension. The Garden is used to describe the place that exists beyond our known time and space. The flower game produces universes. The "patterns" are the events that occur in the universe, such as the traveler being destroyed. It's not only possible but probable that using the device permits us to look into the other games and see their outcome. To reaffirm the idea that the heart is an attempt at a universal seed, Uldren thinks the heart was "a seed left behind to grow." in the same line that he theorizes it to be a tripwire. Also, in "The Flower Game" chapter, it states that it's possible that some realities in the game will end up recreating the flower game in their own universe. Referring back to Uldren talking about the Heart he mentions the Heart helps the Vex grow toward what they want to be. The Vex desire to become inseparable from existence. Power like that would put them on the same level as the Gardener and the Winnower.

I mean it says the cosmos was created as a byproduct of their fight. “In the wet pop of grapes and the smear of berries—in the perturbation of the field that was the garden before the first tick of time and the first point of space—were the detonations that made the universes” And later it says once creation is done, it’s done. No redos. That reinforces the Flower Game being a simulation of sorts. Creation wasn’t a game. The Flower game doesn’t make universes, it’s a universe simulation. Patterns are explained. “In their game, the gardener and the winnower discovered shapes of possibility. They foresaw bodies and civilizations, minds and cognitions, qualia and suffering. They learned the rules that governed which patterns would flourish in the game, and which would dwindle. "It always ends the same," the gardener complained. "This one stupid pattern!" They're majestic, I said. They have no purpose except to subsume all other purposes. There is nothing at the center of them except the will to go on existing, to alter the game to suit their existence. They spare not one sliver of their totality for any other work. They are the end. “ The Vex dominated the Flower Game. That’s why the Gardner adding paracausality, for others to fight against them. The Vex want to become part of reality. A creation seed wouldn’t do anything but make a reality inside our own that they can control. Which still leaves them subjugate in ours. The Heart was meant to empower them beyond reckoning and grant them paracausality on the whole, allowing them to put the Vault in the cosmos and use their powers to mesh themselves with reality. Towards their goal, taking that to mean the BH would grant them power equal to the Gardner and Winnower is a stretch. The BH and the Veil, so far, has only acted like a source of power and a portal to other planes. I wouldn’t go that far.

I guess I could use a little more convincing that the Vex were the explicit result of the flower game and the gardener's new rule being paracausality, especially if they had no control over creation. It also opens up a lot of questions regarding Elsie Brays time traveling, because that would mean there is q further degree of control over creation if say the Gardener was restarting the universe each time the traveler dies.

They aren’t restarting the universe, just going back a century or two at the most it seems. It’s not control over creation, it’s control over the material universe. Space and time. Which is the domain of the Light. The Traveler doesn’t die. It looks like it’s a preventive measure, to stop the Traveler from dying.

Fair enough. So would it maybe be a safer assumption to say the veil is just the remains of a popped berry in the garden?

I wouldn’t think so. The Traveler and Veil would of been something that manifested after creation. A conduit for them to affect things in the cosmos. The Traveler acts as the door and the Veil the key. This would of been done post creation to keep the Garden locked away and themselves safe from their creations.

Would it be crazy to say maybe the Veil is just a dark analog to the traveler?
