Control vs trials sbmm

I've been having this problem for a minute and I don't understand it control seems to work kinda well with sbmm I'm getting people at or around my skill level to play with (connections are worse though I'm tired of getting shot through walls) but in trials I am really only getting lower skilled players on my team and it's so bad I'm on top of my team a good bit of the time with more kills than my 2 teammates sometimes even to the point I'm doing better than both put together, I have to fight tooth and nail carrying people just to win a match because I'm getting very little help from teammates. it's so bad that at this point that if by some miracle I go 6 and 0 on my card I'm usually greeted in the 7th round by teammates using weapons that are definitely not optimal for pvp on whatever map I'm on like a 450 AR with a shotgun on widows court and not even with some build in mind and the whole other team is using the sweatiest weapons and abilities possible which I'm fine with but my teammates can't hang against, making flawless an impossibility solo queuing it's very frustrating to be trying my absolute hardest with my sweatiest setup and then get matched up with people with gear that looks like they never played a competitive match in pvp before. So my question is does trials not have the same matchmaking parameters as control and if not can someone tell me why or am I just a bad luck magnet Ps: I know gear doesn't make the player but if someone is trying to use a 390 pulse on a longer range map against snipers or scouts it's like throwing scissors against rock your gonna lose if you don't have the skill to close gaps to get into optimal range and even then on top of that you are hoping the enemy misses shots because the ttk of 390 pulse is like .93 and a high impact scout is .8

  • Trials isn’t actually sbmm. It’s card based matchmaking skewed to focus on connections. It’s based on the number of wins on your card. The game tries to match you with others who have the same number of wins, until you get to 7. When you get to 7 you’ll match ANYONE with 7 or more wins on your card. HOWEVER, due to trials rather low population (especially this season), the game probably is having a VERY hard time finding others on the same number of wins as you. If a player waits in orbit long enough to find a game, the games matchmaking will start and continuously open its parameters up, meaning that the game will match you with players who are NOT on the same number of wins. This is actually a VERY common occurrence now, as the population is low enough where the game is struggling straight up to match you accordingly. That’s why you see posts so commonly on a person with 0 wins giving the opposing team their victory to the lighthouse. Because… card based matchmaking is simply failing to do what’s it was designed to do, with how low the trials population is. Your games are NOT going to get better. Bungie can’t attract people with trials long term. They’ve NEVER successfully done that. The playlist is LITERALLY all sweats now. The only solos left are LITERALLY bottom of the skill spectrum. The chance of you winning games as a solo are SO astronomically low, your better off just giving up on trials entirely. It’s not worth it. Not a single piece of trials gear is worth the frustration. Trust me. I’ve never attempted trials, as I suffer from depression and anxiety. I can’t legitimately play it. I’d rather get 0 trials gear then go crazy. Maybe you should just… give up on trials as well. It’s not going to be a good experience to play. Ever.

    • There is mo skill based matchmaking in Trials. The only skill based matchmaking in Trials is YOU deciding that you are good enough to play and win.
