Cheater with bot vault of glass/random team
Hi, I joined a random team from the application, (I needed the master templar cp) when I spawned it was not the right cp and all of a sudden it gave me "connection to the team" and then spawned at the templar .. In the chat he was talking of the bot, I immediately left the team, I wanted to report it from the application, but the team was no longer present (this also suggests). My question is will I get banned for this? For being in the team with a cheater even for a few seconds?

Not only will you get banned, but all your wealth will be confiscated and you will be publicly shamed.

It sounds like the player was using a bot to hold the checkpoint open. Technically that's against tos but it does no harm, it's not cheating and is basically just a time saver for players so they can join the bot player, grab the checkpoint then leave and go on to play with thier team uising thier newly obtained check point. From Bungie's point of view I doubt they care because lots of people just wouldn't bother doing a whole raid vs skipping to a checkpoint to the final boss, so they'd kind of be shooting themselves in the face if they started cracking down on this. As for will you get banned...no. You won't. There's whole communities out there that frequently use this system without issue.

I don’t know enough if that is cheating or not. However, incase you didn’t know, within this app you can go back and look at your game history. Then you might be able to find the player who you are talking about. Then report them if needed.

I'm fairly certain that getting a checkpoint from someone is NOT considered cheating, even if a bot is holding the instance. As long as there is no monetary exchange, no account recoveries etc then I believe you are good to go.

I struggle to understand those who go out of their way to tattle on people that have little or nothing to do with them. Then this person comes along crying about not being able to steal a checkpoint. Lmao

1 ReplyAs long as you leave within a reasonable time frame upon realizing/suspecting a fireteam member is cheating you should have zero fear of being hit by ban shrapnel. As for reporting the cheater, you can file a report after the fact through the following link: https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/360049497451-Report-Suspected-Cheating Be sure to fully read the instructions listed before filing a report to ensure your situation fits the given parameters and you supply the necessary information.
