Short Answer: Change the buff's name to Feast of Stars and let it increase on orb of power AND elemental well pickups.
The hunter exotic Star-Eater Scales was created while we had copious amounts of orbs of power and I can't help but feel that it was made with that amount of orbs in mind.
With the release of Witch Queen and the god forsaken orb generation mods orbs of power are very rarely seen. Most of everyone has swapped out their CWL builds for Well builds. (Which are tedious to set-up and switch out. CWL builds were "One size fits all." While Well builds are very specific.)
That being said, mission accomplished I guess? Wells are now everywhere and orbs are rare. If this was the goal, you have succeeded! (Though the orb mods still could have been ghost mods and they can still use a cost reduction.)
Regardless, Star-Eater Scales are now borderline null and void. Suddenly requiring a full build made around the exotic to use it effectively.
Taking all of this into account I present you this change/buff:
Feast of Stars
You gain additional Super energy from Orbs of Power and Elemental Wells you pick up. While your Super energy is full, picking up an Orb of Power or Elemental Well overcharges your super, causing you to gain a burst of healing when cast and a bonus to your Super damage. At maximum overcharge, you also gain an overshield.
P.S. Please add a loadout tab. DIM's existence isn't an excuse not to add a crucial feature that nearly every other RPG has. It's hell managing these all these mods.
1 ReplyIf wells of light also counted towards scales then I'd might actually use this exotic. I liked them back when it only needed 4 orbs but since it started needing 8 I couldn't bother to use them over NH, rigs, or falling star

Love my Stareater Scales but I could go for a buff.

4 RepliesI was kinda like "These will be great, they should probably do more damage with the mobius quiver than the rig because you have to work so hard to get them charged" Nope. They -blam!-.

19 RepliesIt really doesn’t need a buff tho… There are tons of builds that drops orbs for yourself, not to mention teammates orbs. I always have a super with my build Tether is already the best and most damaging super in the game with rigs. X8 scales does even more damage than that

1 ReplyStar Eaters gives you DOUBLE super energy from Orbs. At 8 Feast of Light it buffs supers by 90%. In no way do Star Eaters need a buff. This coming from a Hunter that never takes Star Eaters off.

Edited by Kiro - 13: 4/29/2022 10:16:02 PMI loved this exotic and I was a 100% star eater main in PvE. But the orb change made them pointless. I would suggest that it gain an new exotic perk ontop of its current ones : "Weapon multi-kills generate orbs of light" Basically just make it so its a masterwork weapon, you know before the nerfs when they said in a TWAB its a buff meant to solve the problem of exotic weapons not generating orbs.....buff my asses more like one of the biggest pve nerfs this game has had to date.

You can run orb mods with CWL or Well builds,I make orbs all the time, and still have heavy all the time -

1 ReplyHow are people not creating orbs? Your fireteam must be sad.
-
Been saying this since last season. No orbs being made means it is useless. It should work off wells too i agree.
-
Agree. This exotic needs to be buffed to be useful again.
-
Better idea. Make them like the overload/devour Warlock boots, except each precision kill grants an orb of power
-
13 RepliesImo, all exotics should require you to build around them. That’s part of the fun of the game. Anyways, what if it just had an extra mod slot with a mod that generates orbs on multi kills with guns (like how lucky pants have holster mod built in). It would have to be like 3 kills per orb to avoid breaking the game though.
-
Agreed.

6 RepliesThese are currently the best exotic to run with a devour and explosive light rocket launcher build

2 RepliesEdited by Corrick II: 4/29/2022 5:40:57 PMNot a bad idea but I wonder if it would be too powerful after that. Me personally, I don’t mind the orb change because I’m fine using the helmet slots to spec into it, so I’m usually rolling in orbs. Add elemental wells that everyone else is creating and those things would charge up in no time all the time.

3 RepliesPicking up elemental wells while your super is charging should buff well effects similarly like picking up orbs buff the extra amount of super generated.
