Game Crashes At Startup (Gamepass PC)

Upbate 3/17/22: 'Gaming Services' just got an update. I can now launch and play the game. For anyone that turned off automatic updates in the Microsoft Store you can now turn it back on if you want. If the update doesn't show, click on the 'get updates' tab and it should pop up. Shortly after starting up the game via desktop shortcut, Xbox app or the .exe in the Destniy2 folder the game will open and shortly after (5-6 sec.) it will crash to desktop with no error message. A couple of times I've also had the game crash, but it would not crash to desktop, I would have to close it via task manager. I've installed the game via Steam to see if it works and it does. Only the Xbox app one is crashing. I've tried all the basic troubleshoots. Verify game files, reinstall the game, reinstall graphics drivers, check for windows updates, restart PC, but to no avail. The game was working fine after the most recent hotfix, but after a day or so I cant open it anymore. I see many people are experiencing this as well so I though I would add to it Edit: I've tried some of the suggestions listed in the comments and still nothing has worked. Also my pc specs: GPU: 2060 Super FE (stock) CPU: Ryzen 5 3600x (stock) RAM: 16gb DDR4 3600mhz GPU Driver: 511.79 Operating System: Win10 21H1 Any recognition that Bungie is looking into this would be most appreciated.

    Same bug. Stuffed around with driver roll backs, windows update roll backs, game reinstalls, clearing caches and what not, running in admin blah blah.       Hi, I had same issue but its FIXED after last Xbox app update My current versions OS Version: Win 11 21H2 (Build 22000.556) Xbox version: 2203.1001.1.0 Gaming services version: 3.63.16003.0 GameBar version: 5.721.12013.0

          Hello, I wanted to let you know that I am able to duplicate the issue you are reporting and have passed the information to Bungie support team. Steps I took to duplicate the issue: 1. Launch game from Xbox PC app = crashed on logo screen 2. Updated game = crashed logo screen 3. Deleted and reinstalled Destiny 2 = crashed on logo screen 4. Verified/repair files = crashed on logo screen 5. Deleted last 2 Windows Security updates = crash on logo screen

          • HEY! I found a fix that will work for most people but sadly not for me. You need to uninstall gaming services via power shell using the code; get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers And then go to this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygc5IcAFnmY and follow the directions given to download the 3.62 gaming services so you can play. Sadly my powershell doesnt allow this code to work as it gives me an error but if yours does this should work smoothly. There is no real fix right now besides using the older version of gaming services.

              • I made the mistake of assuming this game would work out of box. Purchased witch queen to play with friends. I have this same issue and still no fix as of wednesday 3/16. It's kind of ridiculous they have not fixed an issue that is affecting an entire subset of users win11/gamepasspc. Processing a return until / if it gets fixed

                • Bungie, as of 3/17, this is still broken. I bought the DLC on 3/1. Unusable game for 6 days now with no fix. I want a refund, who can I contact?

                  • There seems to be a fix for the gamepass version of this issue, something to do with gaming services latest update. Here's a link to it. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/260754986?sort=0&page=0&path=1 sorry steam guys, still no fix there yet.

                  • Bungie need to fix this issue immediately ( or better yet five days ago ). Personally, I have no interest in going through the hassle of finding a work around. I pay for this game so that their company can make it run. It is not the burden of the consumer to find fixes because Bungie doesn't want to go through the effort of making their game play nice with the service they provide it through and willingly take our money through.

                    Any update on this? Once I get the chance I'm buying all the dlc on steam. I'm done with the issues the Xbox app has.

                      Potential fix to Crashing on launch/ steam I'm Pretty sure I found a fix to this, Thanks to `Poptic-Uchiha. First of all turn off g-sync in the Nvidia Control Panel - Disable all overlays, Steam, Geforce, Discord and Game Bar. When you launch the game tab out then when u you get to the menu The Witch queen, tab in quickly, then press enter or click, then tab out, keeping doing this until your on the select a guardian, quickly tab in choose a guardian then tab out one more time until your on your ship screen. That worked for me thankful, hopefully it will help others.

                      I followed the above and it worked for me. Basically reverting gaming within Windows 11 back to 3.62. Turn off auto update for apps within Microsoft Store and turn off xbox gamebar. Also - he has link under show more to the files and command, which is: get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers Use the files at your own risk, but I have and no issues.

                      Ok this is starting to get annoying. It's going on 6 days unplayable through the Xbox App. Blizzard, Tripod, or Smilegate would have had this fixed in 24 hours. How do we get a Witch Queen refund?

                      Game Services version: 3.63.8003.0 is the issue. It seems like almost every single person here started having this problem the second their system updated game services. Mine didn't auto update until early Monday morning and alas come Monday evening I'm crashing at the logo screen same as everyone else. I was hoping today's backend maintenance from Bungie would have fixed this problem but it appears as though it didn't. We just need D2 to jive with this version of game services so we can get in, because clearly there is some sort of disconnect between the two and D2 isn't recognizing it. Other games aren't having the same issue with the update so it must be something on D2's end. Regardless the common denominator 100% seems to be game services. And as more people's systems auto update, eventually 100% of the player base on gamepass PC will be unable to get into the game. We're fast approaching the 1 week mark since this started for people, so let's hope this is being taken seriously by Bungie.

                    • Same problem since Mar 10 update and nothing has been done to fix it. I think we should start a refund case before it's too late to get our money back. Believe me, I rather enjoy the game but it does not seem like they know what the problem is and have not even acknowledged the problem.
