Please Bring Back Skill Based Matchmaking

Edit: TLDR: Sbmm needs to return for the health of the crucible and it’s players. It’s frustrating to fight sweats who stomp you or to be the sweat who stomps a low skill player. Also don’t be saying you don’t want it back if you’re one of those sweats who wanted it gone. Collectively I have logged well over 3,000 hours across both D1 and D2 with a good portion within PVP. I would like to think I know what I’m talking about to some extent after such time. I know this will never be seen but I just want to vent my anger about this issue that has been bugging me since they changed matchmaking after shadowkeep. Bungie I beg you to bring back skill based matchmaking to all pvp modes. I understand the logic behind removing it to reduce match queue times for the higher skilled players, but that reason alone shouldn’t be the driving factor for a decision of that scale. I have been an avid player of the crucible across all my years of Destiny and these past couple years in the crucible has been utter hell. Ever since then I have either gotten matches where most players are vastly above my skill level leaving me to feel worthless as a player, or a match where I do the same to those who have less skill than I. I’m speaking from experience, it’s not fun to run against players who’ve been Flawless 100 plus times when I’ve been once while having major help from guys who were able to carry me. In the time since the change in my feelings to crucible have worsened, and with the lack of content for it, has made it even worse. Please bring back skill based matchmaking, because it is literally killing the crucible player base aside from those who are in the higher tier skill levels. Part of the reason there are so few newcomers to trials is because the crucible itself is a daunting unfair task for any new player and those who lack the skill. I’ve moved from pvp content to pve because I can’t stand playing against sweats all day anymore and it’s part of the reason that after I’ve done most seasonal content I drop it because I don’t want to play crucible. For perspective I used to love to come home from school every day itching to play crucible and show off my skill and best others of my skill level, and hone those skills to become better, but now with more and more sweats in all of my matches it’s sucked the fun out and I can’t improve if I die off respawn to a guy who is much more skilled than me. I know many won’t agree with me, and many more will just say to Git Gud or stop playing but I don’t want to, I want to enjoy the crucible once again, So Please Bring Back what made the crucible fair, what made it playable and fun, Bring Back Skill Based Matchmaking.

  • I use "manual matchmaking". If the game doesn't fit the rules i quit. My rules are made by me for me. So add your own rules... * i don't like to be killed by the same guy to often in a row * too many vex mythoclasts, a new one... * lagging players i can't damage * freezing when somebody takes aim at me * if i'm the last in my team for too long. * enemy team has multiple hunts in a row * etc., make your own. And remember : you bought the game to have fun, if it isn't fun for you don't play it. You have no obligation whatsoever to the other players. Leave the match anytime you feel like it, or just stop playing crucible for a while (and then think about if D2 is still worth its quarterly fee...). The problem of small player base, long queues and slow connection due to great distances are nothing new and there are workarounds... All with their own drawbacks, see (some of the) discussion above (some are ... strange arguments)
