Gambit Prime Perks in Gambit Revisited (Concept)

I, for one, loved the idea of specific roles changing how you play in Gambit. However, the execution for this idea in Season of the Drifter was pretty lackluster to say the least, with mild perks on some roles and the only method to play with these roles was to earn complete armor sets from that horrible activity, Reckoning. This led to Bungo deprecating the entire concept. Even after it’s initial flop, I still think Gambit Roles could have a place in the game to freshen up the neglected game mode, so I decided to think about how Gambit Roles could be obtained and what perks each one would give. But, in order for any of this to work, Gambit itself would need an overhaul. I’d make another post for this, but I think Kujay did a decent job explaining some effective changes in his Gambit Rework video. TLDR: •If a team summons a Primeval while the other team has not, they can no longer invade. •Everyone is given a fixed amount of heavy ammo at the start of the match for them to manage and use wisely * No more Power Bricks •Add a Freelance option to the Gambit node so solos won’t suffer from well-coordinated enemy 4-Stacks •Invaders get short bursts of wall hacks rather than completely having them for the entire invasion •Reward structure needs to be reworked for a more enjoyable and rewarding experience With these changes implemented, I came up with this idea: How Roles Are Obtained There are 2 possible ways that Roles could be designated to each player. The simplest answer would be to add a role queue so you can choose which Role you get before the game starts. At the start of the game, you immediately gain your first perk. However, my idea is that rather than having to farm for complete armor sets/mods or adding a role queue, Roles could be obtained in the actual game mode via the Bank. Each slot on the bank is color coded for each role (white bank hole for Collector, red bank hole for Invader, etc.) Players will have to deposit a specific amount of motes in the specific banks to claim that role as well as the first perk. Collector requires 5 motes, Invader requires 4, Reaper requires 3 and Sentry requires 2. This is intended to prevent multiple people from having the same roles in the game while not having to wait for your role in a queue that could take God knows how long. Perks Like last time, each role will have 4 perks. Each perk is obtained through specific tasks. The first perk is obtained once you’ve claimed the role, 2 perks are obtained through role-specific tasks in the match, and one is obtained once the Primeval is summoned. Reaper The Reaper should be given the satisfaction of cleaving through entire waves and defeating high-value targets with ease. Perks should help the Reaper perform well in PvE activities. •Scaled Armor: Receive less damage when surrounded by 3 or more enemies * Requirement: Claim the Reaper role •Jade Harvest: Multikills grant health * Requirement: Get 3 multikills •Bounty Hunter: When a high-value target spawns, it is marked for you to see. Destroying the target’s shield gives you increased damage. * Requirement: Kill 3 major enemies •Taken Empowerment: Killing rank-and-file enemies grants a stack of Taken Empowerment. Each stack increases damage to the Primeval for one hit. (10 stacks = 10 empowered hits) * Requirement: Summon Primeval Sentry Sentries felt like the short straw of the bunch in Gambit Prime as most of the perks were lackluster and the entire gameplay just revolved around sitting at your bank and waiting for a blocker or Invader. Sentries should strike fear into Invaders, but not feel completely boring to play. •Umbral Well: A Well spawns around the bank. Walking through this Well grants health, as well as a speed and damage buff that lasts for about 5 seconds. Well briefly disappears when walking through it. Well permanently disappears when Primeval is summoned * Requirement: Claim the Sentry role •Blocker Exterminator: Deal extra damage to blockers. Killing blockers grants an extended version of the Umbral Well buff that lasts for 10 seconds * Requirement: Kill 3 blockers •Fight or Flight: Invaders become briefly marked for you once they invade. Marked Invaders take slightly more damage from you. * Requirement: Kill 1 Invader •Envoy Empowerment: Killing Primeval Envoys spawns a Well in their location for your team. Standing in the Well grants increased damage to the Primeval. Wells disappear when Primeval Envoys respawn * Requirement: Summon Primeval Collector Collectors have been a decent role, but could get a bit more to work with. They should be the primary banker in the game and collecting motes should be worthwhile for them especially. •Deep Pockets: Max mote capacity is increased to 20. Depositing 20 motes at once sends a giant blocker * Requirement: Claim the Collector role •All Mine!: Motes grant small amounts of health when collected. If at full health, motes grant overshields * Requirement: Collect 15 motes at once •False Generosity: Blockers you send deal slightly more damage. Mote drain is faster if one of your blockers is on the enemy side. * Requirement: Send 3 blockers or 1 giant blocker •Taken Wealth: Taken that are killed drop Dark Motes for you only. Dark Motes function as Orbs of Power, granting super and ability energy. * Requirement: Summon Primeval Invader Invaders had it good during the Prime days. While the perks should help with Invasions, it shouldn’t give the Invader such a massive upper hand. •Apex Predator: Gain permanent Truesight when invading as well as invisibility for 7 seconds. Invisibility does not work against Sentry “Fight or Flight” * Requirements: Claim the Invader role •Crimson Marksman: Killing Guardians with precision hits increases the damage of your next hit * Requirement: Kill 3 Guardians while invading •Parasitism: Standing next to the enemy bank will block it and slowly siphon motes. * Requirement: Deny 15 motes •Taken Symbiosis: Killing enemy Guardians grants you health along with the enemy Primeval * Requirement: Summon Primeval Well, those are my thoughts for now. Let me know yours if you have any.
