You should seek other players by using Looking for group, or LFG for short. Bungie.net has a dedicated service to form fireteams for various activities here: https://www.bungie.net/en/ClanV2/FireteamSearch
#help is not suited to find players for your fireteam.

I tried to find a fire team but I can't figure out how to post. I haven't used this app or game in a few years idk if that changed

Select the "Create Fireteam" in the top right section of the web page if you are navigating from a web browser or the "+" button on the bottom right portion of the mobile app. From there, you can create a fireteam.
