Taking a crack at balancing stasis in pvp.

These changes I suggested DO NOT have to apply to pve and I would rather they didn't. Warlock melee: No longer instantly freezes, instead it applies x8 slow effect on the enemy. (I would increase its damage slightly to compensate, but I don't know it's current damage value). Cold snap grenade: No longer instantly freezes, instead it applies x5 slow to enemies. (Increase its damage to make it a bit more lethal as its losing instant freeze). Duskfield grenade: Reduce suck in effect by 25%. Increase damage to 5 per tick. Warlock super: Each projectile applies x5 slow to enemy supers, requiring 2 projectiles to freeze (I believe it shoots 3 of them per button press). Still instantly freezes normal guardians. This will make it a little more difficult to freeze supers (I don't know if the shockwave one shots supers afterwards so until I know more I won't suggest anything to it). Titan super: Crystals that travel along the ground apply 5 slow to enemy supers (freezes normal guardians instantly as is) per activation (requiring 2 long range slams). Enemy supers within slams close range aoe still get frozen. Gives it less capabilities against supers trying to gap close against it but keeps it powerful if they are too close. Hunter super: Make the enemies...tornado...thing easier to see (make it a darker red or something). It's kind of hard to tell when it's an enemies sometimes. Bungie told us in the TWAB what slow does so I think THIS more than comfortably is an alternative for being frozen: Slow will reduce movement speed. Reduce ability regeneration rates. Suppress movement abilities (jump, dodge, etc). Reduce the following weapon stats: ADS speed ADS move speed Weapon reload speed Weapon handling Weapon kick direction Reduces weapon accuracy. This...is still a lot to take advantage of. Now let's say a target gets hit by the warlock melee but then is hit by a stasis grenade, it will then freeze because you have at least 10 stacks of slow (similar to how the duskfield grenade works). The freeze effect itself: Reduce maximum freeze duration to 4 seconds. Remove "break out" animation and allow movement immediately after breaking free (no stupid stagger animation). I do not think this will perfectly balance them, but I do believe it is a start to it. Freeze should NOT be as easy to use in pvp and considering how strong slow still is, it is MORE THAN fair that freeze itself no longer happens unless you make it costly by requiring a set up. I do not have a proper answer for the fragments that will require enemies to be frozen at least in pvp so that will be something they will have to work out. Maybe you can shatter the enemy for flat damage based on their slow count (x6 = 60 damage or something like that). Let me know what you guys think. Personally I would rather slow and freeze not be in pvp at all, but that is the trait of stasis and fully removing it strips it of its identity which I want to avoid. I think slow will be plenty strong and freeze still being capable with multiple abilities will balance out how often it happens, but it should still be able to happen.

  • Freezing in pvp literally makes no sense. It’s completely unavoidable when it happens, and is almost 99.99% a guaranteed death. This will be even emphasized more in Trials.
