@Bungie Trials Token Rewards on wins only was a horrible idea.

I don't know who's heading up the people who manage Trials in Bungie HQ, but all this decision does is punish people for even trying. Who in the world was this change supposed to appeal to? You advocate for people to try all modes in your game, but then you turn around and give such a heavy incentive to stay away from others. Token rewards only on win thresholds and bounties? Are you out of your minds? Do you have any idea how many people are using dirty tactics in order to get ahead in Competitive as is? And you want to punish the people who are unfortunate enough to run across the likes of DDoS-ing or flat-out cheating with the likes of aimbots and instant revivers? All this decision has done is add more incentive to play dirtier than the people playing dirty. I'm a veteran Destiny 1 Player, and a D1 Trials veteran who worked their rear end off getting a good roll on my armor. Now, gone are the days of trying to earn tokens for the sake of possibly getting a Trials weapon that you couldn't meet the threshold of wins; gone are the days of seeing what the vendor has on offer so you can actually complete your armor set because that one piece of armor has been at a threshold you couldn't hit until 'this' week; gone are the days of people wanting to try out Trials once they realize that only god rolls and pinnacle weapons are viable. You have failed in your mission statement, as far as I'm concerned @Bungie. EDIT: Here's a possible change: how about for every 10 matches you complete, you receive a package on the next Week of Trials? Perhaps it could just be something like 10 tokens for ten matches then 25 for an additional ten, or maybe a random piece of armor/weapon.

  • That and why have tokens disappear at reset. I had 40+ on me and wasn't able to get back on the rest of the week before reset and all that time getting those tokens, mainly doing it for solstice crap, just in the garbage. Lets just address the biggest PoS about the game is the timed items, not including weekly resets or vaulting stuff, that makes sense. Sorry I cant play the damn game every day of the year, I miss a bunch of seasons and Im given only one opportunity, exotic cipher, the make up and for the rest Bungie just gives me the middle finger for having a life and career to deal with.

    • The real problem is card resets and not matching based on weekly card history. The best players being able to farm wins (and thus, tokens and stats) against people who might just be trying to complete bounties, get to 3 or 5 wins, or even just complete their MoT trials wins is a huge problem. If it was impossible to reset cards after you have gone flawless (maybe not just ever, but maybe seasonal) or if matchmaking refused to match those same players against others who have never even made it to 7 wins on a card (let alone flawless) the experience would improve dramatically for the more casual player.

      But it encourages winning? Why should you get trials gear from throwing the match? Heres my thoughts on trials. [b][i]last year’s community: bring back trials!!![/i][/b] [b][i]this year’s community: trials go awayyy!![/i][/b] Ive never seen such a hard 180 on a gamemode that hasnt changed much since D1 lol.

          i like pvp. i primarily play pvp. I hate trials with a passion. If it went away for good i'd be thrilled. I'd love them to dedicate far more resources to crucible rewards, a crucible vendor, new maps. crucible weapons and cosmetics. I like comp. But regarding comp matchmaking is crap. But yeah i hate trials. that said i do agree that no tokens is a bad idea. it is a disincentive to play and the opposite of what people needed. But not really surprised. I'm of the philosophy that you need to make a looter that people will play without getting anything. I played d1 pvp without needing reward. I played COD MW2 without needing "loot". Then you put good loot on top of that. Trials, i will play to try and get a better shotgun and then never again. I literally have only played when shotgun is 3 wins or summoner so my loot pool is two guns. and that's the problem. it's not fun. and i won't do it without a reward.

        • Wait.... I swear they did this before..... Weren't people " farming the bottoms of cards " and everyone wanted token rewards to increase further in the card to prevent that..... But now they want the old system back? So, the issue was never " people farming the bottoms of cards " and instead was your own ability and your teams ability? Call a spade a spade. Don't make excuses. Practice. Makes. Everything. Possible.

            • They actually did it right in D1 and then D2 came out and they kept screwing it up lol You think after Trials of the nine flopped they would have just brought it back almost mirroring D1 but they didn't lol I'm not saying it's terrible but it floats around the "Meh" pool for too many people. Just my opinion anyways.

            • Yeah, it's crazy to think I played for hours this weekend, spent 300 trials tokens and literally deleted every item cos of poo rolls on them. They need to change it up for sure.

            • I laugh every time I think about Trials and how poorly it has always been implemented. Bungie is a company dedicated to inclusion and leftist ideals, and yet they create a game mode that brings out the most toxic gamer rage, and creates division amongst the players. A game mode that makes people quit the game for good, even after winning a bunch. It's stranger than fiction.

              • I mean, it was made with good intentions. Token farming was a thing because people would just farm the first match, reset, and go back in. If you have to play more and win those matches to actually earn gear, that is ideally what you want in a game where winning is a potential. So you want to give people the same loot for losing as for winning? No, never. Because then there is never an incentive to get better or try to win. But should Bungie try and not make it such a discouraging experience? Sure, but remember that everyone here will try and exploit the hell out of anything nice Bungie tries to do. Nobody ever truely wins.

                  1 win resets is for KD boosting / stat padding...nothing has changed for those fireteams. This knee-jerk reaction is whats called throwing the baby out with the bath water.

                • 1-win-resets are causing a lot of harm to the playlist population. High level players endlessly resetting their cards after 1 match just puts non-sweats off playing all together.

                  • All they need to do in order to stop these sweaties farming tokens is if someone has been flawless or high up on the card make sure they can’t re-enter at game 1 on card like they do to farm... Put things on place that affects that character who has reached a certain level to ensure they are not just there to farm tokens

                    • I'm pretty sure its a temp fix for early season farmers. At the beginning, there was no incentive to go flawless so you had teams that were farming. Essentially "gatekeeping." The intention was to not let that happen. The spillover with solsitce armor and the trials requirement has really put a bad taste in players with avg to below avg performance. I think 2 tokens for a loss, 5 for a win and more tokens on consecutive wins is the play. Also up the tokens from bounties. Most make you put yourself at a disadvantage for a measly 2 tokens.

                    • If Bungie actually implemented anti-cheat software Trials would be a whole lot better. This would not solve the card reset issue but it would have a positive impact on Trials overall. There is no anti-cheat in D2 other than the reporting system which is only to keep players from rage quitting the game because they feel as though they have done something against cheaters. There are so many paid for services that are carrying players through Trials ie one man wrecking team using perfect aim, speed hacks, unlimited revives, etc. and the sights never go down. If Bungie was eliminating the cheaters the sites advertising the services would go as well, but they don't. Bungie proves over and over again they only care about the number of players active in the game and not at all about the experience the players are having. Why else would they make the game free? To show investors numbers and to promote the store.

                    • It was implemented so people would stop farming game 1 essentially blocking people that wanted to give it a go.... I do see your point of view but this was another attempt to get people into the mode. Trials is just in a terrible state and they really need to do something to get people engaged other than requiring it for completing tasks.

                      • I tried, played one game, that was enough, it's boring, full and tiresome, grind then find some us behind dlc, dome behind impossible fame modes, just a way for better players to her off, as usual with this game

                        Better system. Disable trials all together. Toxic game mode that has done more harm than good to the game. Cheating skyrocketed the second they even announced its return.
