Y'all are taking this way too seriously. The Arena is just supposed to be a place for stupid fun. Go ahead and blow up a couple universes or something! You don't have to stick to your set in stone RP character.

That's what the Arena is for though. Godmod to your hearts content in the spirit of good fun. Me and Crate had fights where we basically conjured whatever random stuff we could from our imagination, and it was fun.

Some people don't do it in the spirit of good fun though. They do it to win and show everyone how super cool and powerful they are.

The thing is, Cmirg, is how is one supposed to have fun when the other player just tells you "you can't win unfortunately". That's not fun. People can play this however they want but if it's not fair then it's just a tournament of seeing who gets the last word in. It's an arena, there's supposed to be fights, and those fights should be fair. That doesn't even mean you can't "blow universes" , but it should mean that you actually give your opponent a chance.

I feel like we're getting away from the spirit of the Arena too much. For a while it was just a friendly competition, and if you happened to reply last you won. Now it's... I don't know what it's becoming. The only way to make it "fair" would be to make it a structured RP, and that's not what the Arena is.

The original arena was just a bunch of people having roleplay battles. I'm not sure what you think it used to be. Look back at the first Arena series, they were fights just like these. If we're going to use the past as the example, then the "last reply" rule was only the last resort. Fights were allowed to last until the next arena post (which were a week apart) at which point they would be called if they weren't finished. [i]That[/i] was fun, we all loved that. Now people like Insane and you get shafted just because a match is only a day long. I don't mind the one day rule, what I do mind is someone telling someone else they can't have a chance of winning just because they say so. That is what is not fun.

I guess I need to change the rules a bit for the next one. It's too bad, I wanted to try to keep it as close as possible to what Toaster had.

I don't think the rules need any changing. There's only been three people to really ever complain or be bothered about the 1 day rule as far as I recall. Giant, you, and Insane. And that is fine, it's an understandable annoyance when one loses because of their schedule, but the system doesn't need to change for it. The system works, it works just as well as it always has. The only problem is if someone isn't fair in the way they play. The only way rules could have stopped what Poly did is if you got rid of the Rp. Unfair roleplay needs to be addressed case by case, because otherwise we're all enjoying the arena. It doesn't need to change.

So basically, if someone starts to make it unfair, like Poly did, just declare that rp battle void?
