Why I would prefer that we fail in getting the Shotgun....
imho, there are two scenarios:
A: the Gun is not that good everyone thinks -> no need to have it, it will never become meta or is as good as any other meta-pump
B: the Gun is really awesome and meta-changing -> it will again screw PvP at some point as everyone is running it and Bungie has to nerf it finally...
Neither A nor B is worth doing that awful Tower-Event.
Having said this, I again realize, that Bungie took that game to a point, where introducing new weapons has become nearly pointless. Either it is only decent, then nobody cares except for the collection, or it is outstanding and the next nerf-candidate because it breaks balancing... Curious, how Bungie will solve that in future... ah, silly me, of course: just taking away our old weapons! ;)

6 RepliesI hope it fails to prove a point to bungie that lazy content is not tolerated. Even if it’s for a crazy powerful weapon ... This is the laziest of the lazy type of content to try and bolster an extremely boring and lackluster seasonal activity. Another thing bungie needs to fix - why are these legendary weapons more competitive than exotics. Name one exotic sniper you use in pvp that’s better than beloved and revoker.

1 ReplyThis weapon that is such a grind to get will be outdated in six months along with the Strike exclusive weapon whose place it is taking and the Trials shotgun ruling the kinetic slot. Think on that. Think on how much player time is and has been spent on those weapons and getting a proper version of each and know that they will all be out of date in six months. Now back to the hamster wheel all of you.

For some reason any weapons outside of the three are “ DAD” weapons or “ no skill ” weapons. So it should be just fine as long as it’s not an auto rifle. Cuz we all know how much “skill” it takes to Ape.

It’s going to be meta until it gets nerf’d. Just like every new good weapon that has come out as an exotic or pvp based pinnacle weapon. It rolls with only pvp desired perks. Remember when they introduced the 3rd tree to supers? How broken were some of those? How long until they patched it? Luna’s NF? Things come out broken to build hype. Oh crap I picked the wrong super. Next time I’ll unlock it. BUNGIE WANTS CERTAIN WEAPONS TO BE A MEANCE TO MIX UP THE CRUCIBLE. TO BUILD DESIRED WEAPONS ANS HAVE PLAYERS FARM FOR THEM.

2 RepliesThat really is where the whole game is. Nothing can be great or it's getting nerfed, and if it isn't great it isn't worth bothering to get. Just hundreds and hundreds of mediocre guns with a few slightly better than the others, thanks to that over decade old Tiger engine that can't separate PvP and PvE. If you're an MMO fan this is not the game for you, only took me 5 years of hoping they'd expand on the original vanilla destiny MMO elements to realize they never are.

16 RepliesBro who cares if u don’t want the shotgun don’t go for it and be a bum but some people r trying to have fun here and get a dope shotgun from destiny 1 and sometimes it dosnt matter if the gun is good or not it may just be fun to use or nastalgic I think it’s cool and I want to get it but if ur trying to convince people not to get just to screw with the people who want to then stop playing destiny bc u obviously don’t like it and a game is supposed to give u fun and if ur not having fun then stop playing and/or complaining against Bungie and u have to give them a break bc of the virus everyone is working from home and stuff and if it becomes super op then u will be sad bc u were too busy complaining about the quest instead of actully getting it and it’s a community thing so if the community earns then we earn it

4 RepliesTruth be told? Is the same situation of Whisper of the Worm. They bring an old weapon, with a perk that "broke the game", in this case, Shot-package, which was REMOVED from D1 when we transitioned to Y2 just to "lure people". Just like Whisper brought back the OG White Nail. We all know what'll happen: peope will be lured into completing this atrocious event (Hopes Bungie) so that when everyone gets said weapon, the nerf gets nerfed or removed (again).

This quest and just bungies grindy uninspired content design needs to be addressed. I skipped the public events and bunkers completely and pretty much just did crucible and gambit all season..unless someone pings me help in the tower or there the few clan mates I have remaining in the game ask for help. The game play loop, grind and unlock mechanics are terrible.

3 RepliesAs you said, with your reasoning, any new weapons (PVP oriented) would deserve the same fate of being "useless/nerfed". C : the gun is good, fit some play style, compete with other same weapons archetype, give some new balanced perks. And some player enjoy playing the way they want, without any consideration for the "meta". Bungie objective is (I think) to bring the more diversity inside PVP loadout (even if shotty aren't really lacking in this department actually), so why being so negative ?
