They have alot of options when it comes to nerfing snipers for PvP that would not effect PvE. -Critical damage only de-scopes(cant have just taking damage as this would mess up PvE) - Removed all skill bandwidth forgiveness stats accuracy & aim assist as these are precision 1 shot weapons, the best part is the people that defend snipers say it does nothing. Fine put your money where your mouth is an remove it! -Increase flinch(by a very large margin) -Add sway when scoped -Reduce body shot damage Lets be real though guys the true offenders are Revoker and Beloved. Infinite forgiveness or over 120 aim assist with a proper roll/mods. Pick your poison really, but they are just that poison to PvP.

I'm no expert believe me, but my theory is that being flinched as a sniper resets your aim assist, basically re-locking onto a targets head. Speaking of aim assist, it's way to high for a sniper. Why do you think Beloved and Revoker are the most popular snipers? Revoker doesn't have as much aim assist, but being an aggressive frame, can one shot supers and leave someone critically wounded from a body should, in my opinion, not have the lowest zoom magnification of all snipers in the game, along with having a perk that breaks the ammo economy of the game. Come on Bungie really? Did you not learn anything from D1? Beloved's aim assist though, 68 I believe it was. That's pretty high for an Adaptive Frame, that is the kind of aim assist usually found on Rapid Fire Frames. I've used Beloved a few times and aiming slightly above their head just like Chaperone will almost guarantee the headshot. I mean, look at 0:22 on the video, the bullet visibly misses him and passes by his right, but he still dies. Bungie is just introducing more snipers with crazy high aim assist values in the name of "crisp", just look at Eye Of Sol, it would be probably the most overpowered sniper in the game if not for it's zoom factor, 68 aim assist just like Beloved, but comes with Opening Shot for even more bullet magnetism. Bungie needs to chill with Sniper aim assist creep and fix the flinch to either knock the scope away from the target, not towards the head, or make snipers descope when shot at. That's what a sniper is, a weapon to be used at extreme ranges to catch people off guard when coming around a corner, out of range from most other weapons, not a gun you can whip out in like 0.2 seconds and get a kill from like 10 meters while being beamed by a weapon with High Cal rounds. Take an upvote

      • Descope > flinch but most of you bootleg gamers won't want that because it will make sniping too hard for you and then you will cry

        • There is evidence that flinching moves the reticle towards the head if not already on it. This entirely defeats the purpose of a 'flinch' mechanic and has a side effect of making already easy to use snipers almost impossible to counter in the hands of an okay player (not even good). Snipers are long ranged weapons. Quickscoping and close range play should be something incredibly hard to pull off, and yet its equally as common to get killed by a sniper in shotgun range as it is from scout rifle range and beyond. Snipers are just plain too easy to use, and this unbalanced flinch mechanic doesn't help. There are so many problems, even besides this, with destiny pvp that I don't think there's a chance it'll ever be good.

          • Got to love all of the armchair warriors not even bothering to look at the videos and only saying 'get good'. It's been known for a while that the way flinch works in Destiny is weird, since flinch literally drags your gun reticle towards the head. That is a problem with snipers because in most other shoters the way to combat a sniper is out-flinch them, but in Destiny even a mediocre sniper can pull off BS headshots even after being flinched into oblivion, solely because of said flinch. Notice how in all of the clips from the first video the sniper is being laid into with a primary, but is still able to pull off ridiculous headshots? Sometimes switching from a different weapon to the sniper to do it? That isn't just skill right there, that is a game mechanic actively helping the sniper win gunfights they really have no right to be winning. I agree with OP, flinch needs to be reworked somehow, even if only for snipers.

The sad thing, in one of the clips you can actually see the sniper bullet going right past your head, so it doesn't even hit you at all, and yet you still died to it. That also happens way too often. YES. Flinch needs to drag your reticle away from target no matter where it is.

            • They should remove flinch on primaries. But on special/heavy weapons flinch should no longer drag reticle towards the head.

              • I don't think flinch needs to be reworked. You can blame internet connection more than anything. You shoot someone twice but on their screen they shoot you right before your first shot hits them.

              • Try this some some mate. Get into a private crucible match and have some1 shoot at you while you aim. First shot gets you out the target, next bring the sight back to it. Nice, isnt it?

              • The OP's main video doesn't really tell enough information to go off. It just provides unfortunate circumstances where a player is outgunned by a sniper at over-extended hand cannon ranges. It doesn't really set the stage on whether the flinch mechanic is flawed or not. It could be assumed to be flawed due to the players quick deaths, but we can't tell if it is due to internal mechanics or player correction. The second linked video (A brief ~4 minute video by CoolGuy) provides visuals from the 'snipers' perspective to illustrate the topic of contention.
The question is this: Does flinch need to be re-worked in Destiny 2
Based on the second video, I think yes would be a reasonable answer.

              • No arguments here. Snipers definitely need more flinch while ADS.

                  • just looks like you got destroyed in every scenario and most of those players have multi flawlesses so they arent shit one problem is that you are playing on pc where there is no recoil or flinch, nothing wrong of the sort on console

                    • LMAO ANTAEUS WARDS. First of all I would like you to go back and tell me what you did wrong in every single scenario you put yourself in. 1v1 completely outranged vs a sniper with no back and for movement little crouching and just basically heading towards a sniper with your head held high. Flinch is bad.. but buddy your absolute lack of awareness is by far worse. Seems you're either not great with sniping or don't like it. Seeing as how you're using mida, jade and pulses at a range you're gonna get sniped at. NOT to mention LACK of movement. In almost every scenario you put yourself in you slide in and die or stand still and die.

                      • Yep flinch is in an awful spot right now. It should be a very rare occurrence where I'm shooting someone and they manage to snipe me in the face but currently it's a very regular occurrence.

Yah it’s broken. Obviously somebody coded it wrong and got flinch direction backwards, but they implemented it without testing and all the 360 no scope streamer snipers loved it so the said “meh....this works”. Just need to multiply the flinch vector by -1 (reverse direction) and it would be fixed.

                      • Haha honestly like the visual flinch is there on the players screen. But ideally the reticle never moved in game.
