What do you think is the biggest problem affecting the quality of the game right now and why? Please be respectful of others and their opinions. Might as well not waste your time with responses just calling Bungie a -blam!-. Feel free to comment other problems you think the game has (big picture things, not nit-picking) and also suggestions to fix these problems. See Spoiler for my opinion
Right now, I would really like to see armor 2.0 addressed. Masterworking is very expensive, especially considering the lifespan of seasonal armor (a related problem IMO). I’d also support making all armor ornamental. Lastly, having minimum caps for stats that armor can drop at for certain activities (to ensure you don’t get 50s from endgame content) would be nice. (Xur should also sell higher rolled armor).
• Every point is an issue. But the fact that Bungie dictates what to play, and what gear to use is a huge problem for me. They should also have more interactive mechanics in both strikes and boss fights. Wipe mechanics, interrupts, debuff removals etc. Better ranking system, and matchmaking for PvP. Leaderboards for strikes or nightfalls. And also increased difficulty for players who meet certain score thresholds. Proper rewards for hard achievements, rare and unique sparrows, ships, ornaments and titles. Rare World bosses with rare loot drops. New vendors with random roll weapons that can be bought. Bungie should also improve the progression system. To get higher light just for the sake of it is boring. You need proper content all the way, higher power level should be a bonus not a goal.

I feel as if masterworking isn’t a problem due to an activity that drops 1 masterworked piece a week that nobody seems to know about Pit of Heresy Does anyone even do it? I haven’t spent a single Ascendant Shard yet I have a full masterworked set because of the Pit. It’s super easy and gets around the costs. If you don’t like it, dismantling the masterworked gear nets you a few Prisms. Edit: I have spent 1 ascendant shard to masterwork an IB armor. One that dropped from a 980 NF

  • Not enough good carrots. Having to grind strikes just to knock out a bunch of kills with a certain weapon type or only using grenades to get a seasonal emblem and shader. That’s not very compelling reasons to play the same activity over and over. Compelling Strike exclusive loot. And I mean compelling. Not some weapon in an archetype nobody is using with boring perks that don’t elevate the weapon. Weapons with perks that would be exciting to farm for to get our “god roll”. Armor that can use any season mod can actually get good stat rolls, and actually looks cool.

  • Everything Bungie from having crucible in the game to gambit anything, eververse, recycled everything.

  • Definitely the people trying to bring the game down by posting destiny tracker numbers every day. But short that answer id have to go with the master working situation when it comes to seasonal mods. There’s just not enough sources of shards. I’d much prefer all armor to simply have a rotating mod slot, then implement a costume/ornament system for all armor pieces and use that as a way to incentivize people to grind out sets.

  • Armor 2.0 killed whole interest in me. After new mods revealed and new place for modes only for armor from new season - childish happiness and love for Destiny died inside me. Just no reason to farm all of this. But this is looter shooter - what is the reason then?

  • Personally, I'm just really annoyed that to continue in Season of Dawn's story, you are required to do PvP. I HATE PvP in this game. If they want to make it necessary for getting Last Word or Thorn fine, but to lock story content behind it is just stupid.

The biggest problem is we can't play how we want to play, all of the above force you into using certain equipment to do stuff. Bungie need to come up with content that allows us to run in any gear we like and advance. Bounties are are prime example of this. These should be built to accomplish stuff in game with content, not use weapon A, now use weapon B etc. Strikes are a massive missed opportunity to reward the player. Bounties could have you completing actual strikes. Let's assume that new content will be sparse, at least leverage what is there in a way that allows players freedom of choice in play style. The ONLY thing worth chasing in Season of Dawn are the armor ornaments from the season pass and that forces the player to continually play exactly as Bungie dictates, which is making the game a chore, not a fun romp. Armor 2.0 is also a missed opportunity. Why not have us quest for mats that allow us to add points to armor pieces. ALL armor starts with a base roll of zero. Then do mats bounties, open world mats drops that allow you to add points to that armor in the six stats. Add max achievable points on each stat depending on class. Scrap affinities completely, have armor start with zero mod slots and allow each piece to be upgraded to 3 or 4 slots that mods can be added to, then allow mods to have patterns that can be found that you then grind mats for to make and add to armor. You could do the same with weapons. I don't understand Bungie's thought process on the whole game right now.

    • The inability to just let PvP be it's own thing and let PvE have the tiered gear that an MMO normally would. I know PvP players get defensive when it's said, but PvE really suffers to keep it balanced. I'm not taking a stab at them, I'm saying that in a more ideal situation this game would have separate gun stats for PvP and allow the guns on the PvE side to be more stratified. They deserve a nice, balanced sandbox to play in. But the people who prefer PvE also deserve a more MMO experience, if that's what Bungie is trying to actually do.

    • They turned it into an unenjoyable chore list. They hit the "sweet spot" with Forsaken. If you wanted to farm gear and guns for your "god rolls" you could, if you wanted to just shoot bad guys.. done. Now with armor 2.0 and the new "seasonal" requirements you don't have the freedom to just play the d@mn game. I really don't care to pay money to be pushed around by a seasonal director or FOMO. Personally, I'd rather not have content than be gated into "seasonal" runarounds for reskinned loot and boring trash mob events if it meant every 6 months we got a DLC that was worth the time investment. I played through last season, maxed the artifact and ran the dungeon weekly on one toon and it was a burner for me. I didn't do the donkey show of a raid either. I've logged in weekly this season to blow off the bright dust I've collected otherwise, I'm taking a break until they get things figured out.

      • I had to text clanmates who play much more often than me and ask their advice on what weapons and rolls do well in the crucible, because everything is constantly nerfed or buffed. I saved a ton of weapons in my vault and was able to cherry pick good ones with good rolls. Right away my crucible stats and wins were boosted. Now I plan on saving almost every weapon I earn because spineless Bungie might nerf what I'm using in the future. I have a pulse rifle with 1500+ crucible kills that is largely useless right now and it's infuriating. It was so fun stacking four or five kills, sometimes wiping the whole team with one magazine. Now it's reduced to a pea shooter as my skull is hollowed out by arbelest rounds through walls from ten miles away. So pvp balance and fomo are the biggest culprits for me.

      • The fact that everything revolves around bounties now, strikes are boring and unrewarding. Simply put there's nothing worth doing anymore, which is a shame.

      • Having to get 2.0 exotic armor because our old exotic armor stat rolls are too low. This doesn’t make me happy.

        • armor 2.0. I like the builds. But once I build my character the way I want. Don't make me reset it or have to earn other armor to use new mods. That is super lame. I feel like I've spent more time in orbit flying to different locations than actually playing. Game is too grindy now. It's boring. Playing 5 hours in a day is too much and at the end of it, you are lucky if you get anywhere with anything. Leveling up armor sucks. I shouldn't have to spend 100+ hours just to level up all my weapons and armor +2 power and then next week being forced to do the same thing to level up another +2 points. It's not fun at all. The process of the obelisk is terrible, time consuming, waste of time and effort.

        • Armor 2.0 needs Element Affinity removed, point cost reduced or removed completely and high score armor to drop from any source. Unless you are playing endgame activities, every drop is useless. When you do get a good score, it’s the wrong affinity and also requires a ton of materials to make it viable.

          • Improper matchmaking. Especially in competitive. Matches are almost always one sided leading to a very boring experience for both teams.

          • For me it’s the drip feed. Missing a couple of weeks locks you out of titles and possibly weapons/catalysts. The FOMO design has to go..

          • Great topic! Bungie has fallen off since the Halo days, hell, even the early Destiny days. They don't seem to have the imagination they've had in past and I guess that could be with a lot of the original staff being gone. The lack of new planets, new enemies and engaging story have the issue of late, plus like you said the armor 2.0/masterworking didn't has been a fail IMO. That certainly showed in the poll results. My time playing Destiny is at an all time low. I just can't get into the same old stuff and doing the same old things over and over and over again. I just move on to other games but always come back to Destiny. I'm not sure what that makes me.
