Unpopular Opinion: I hate the Riven Cheese
This might not make me any friends, but I get a little more disheartened every time I join a KWTD LW post and when we get to riven I call out that I'll call/shoot eyes and grab taken ball, after this I get a quick response of "Oh nah, we're just cheesing".
Do most people not know how to do riven legit? it is one of the most challenging and rewarding fights, but nobody can experience that challenge or triumph because there is a cheese that has been around for a year that lets anybody essentially skip the encounter, even though said encounter is the FINAL BOSS.
Anyone is welcome to share their own opinion below, agree or disagree, I look forward to the open discussion

Personally, looooove the legit Riven fight. My clan did it at least 50 times before we had enough and just started blowing her up. The drop down for damage after the chaos of mapping out 6 eyes is still one the coolest parts to any fight in franchise history Honestly, a real shame that people who want to experience that fight have a hard time because most of the groups running it have no idea how to even do it themselves Fun story: once had to teach a guided games group I joined in way back when how to do the fight legit because we had no Warlocks and they [i]really[/i] wanted the guide aura

Have you tried the Sword cheese? It's significantly more fun than chunking nades into her mouth

4 RepliesIf you play for the experience, doing raids legit is fun and can give a good time. But most people on lfg's just want to get it done, they're playing either for clears, for loot, for challenges, or some combination of the 3.

Cheesing Riven has become the proper way to do the fight now. If it changes, then they would just kill participation completely. The reasons for doing Last Wish at all, would be for a Title which doesnt really matter anymore and 1000 Voices which, is RNG. So people would just quit and not do it. It's not like any of the other encounters rewards anything either, what with the Wish Wall being soloable and getting Raid loot for free. All, Last Wish boils down to are 2 encounters for Raid loot you already have. -- The only real good thing about Last Wish, was the World's First race. Anything after that became the worst Raid mechanically and the shortest to beat.

1 ReplyNope. 100% Bungie's fault. If they want Riven to be defeated with a specific strategy, then they need to tend to these issues ASAP. Can't blame players for finding new ways around an encounter. It's short sighted to "hate" on them for that. Especially when 1K Voices can demand many completions for players with bad RNG.

I wanted to learn riven legit, it should have been sorted immediately, bungle say it’s a clever way to use the game mechanics when they actually mean they can’t be arsed to change it. It just ruins the final encounter of the raid.

1 Reply“Most challenging and rewarding fights...” Yes and no. Challenging, yes. If you have 1 teammate mess up, it’s an instawipe. Rewarding, no. It’s just as rewarding to cheese it. I’ve done Riven legit twice. My clan required 1 legit Riven with them upon entering, and once more helping someone get their clear. Never again if I can help it, just not worth it.

I don’t like it either. I have 40 last wish clears and rivensbane title and yet have never done riven legitimately which sucks. I want to, but everyone just wants to finish fast which is fine I guess. I wish they had patched it and I really think not making the riven challenge something that forces you to do it legit was a huge missed opportunity.

Well the same people who do this cheese in PvE cry out loud when others try some cheese in PVP so basically they are a bunch of hypocrites.

I can understand why, but its a damn shame. Best raid boss in Destiny franchise peroid. MAYBE Atheon beats it in terms of context but Atheon is too easy now.

Crota had a cheese where you could skip the entire bridge the gorgons in the vault could be slaughtered with the void drinker, oryx could be killed in one go, etc. It's normal and it's easier

So now, as the last wish raid is not relevant for levelling light you will find more people who are up for legit runs, however most people that join through LFG just want to complete runs for 1KV. They don’t want to spend 10 mins shooting eyes when they can shoot the mouth for 30 seconds. Most players complain that there is not enough content in this game when they are always looking to skip it.
