So, What's the Point of Weapon Telementry?

It's not used for mods, infusion, quest steps, bounties, barter/currency, it only has a chance to drop when using certain ghost perks or the Pure Matterglass Lens consumable, and it nets crap with the Gunsmith unless in ridiculous quantities. Does telemetry have any sort of use besides making reputation going up an inch when you turn it in to Banshee? It just seems like its sole purpose is to take up space in your inventory since even turning them in practically nothing; even tokens have a better use since they're at least a guaranteed drop and you don't need a huge amount of them to rank up one level. Frankly I think it might as well be removed since we have enough consumables doing different jobs as is, but if there's something worth using it for then I wouldn't mind that either. Anyone else want to share their thoughts about this practically useless item?

  • While they may not add up to much, they can help more than you might think. It is like finding some coins in you couch cushions. Or putting pennies in a jar to use for a later day once you saved up enough of them. They aren't meant to be a fast level up for banshee, but if you use energy weapons or heavies fairly often, every now and then you'll get one and it adds to the stockpile. It's pretty much just a free level up that doesn't come very often but its nice to just have every now and then.

  • For many months I have petitioned for them to be used for weapon rerolling. It will give a use for 90% of the throwaway ghost shells.

I know what it does. It does seem unnecessary at this point, but if the time comes where Bungie redoes the progression economy again you will be happy to have them.
