Solstice 2019 - Bad. Here's a Way to Fix It.

Yes, I know I posted this in the Solstice thread but I figured I'd share it in its own topic. I like getting feedback on my ideas. Discussion. Debate. Good stuff when progressive. ......usually. Haha! Why This Event Isn't Good It's not fun. There. That's all. It's not fun to play this. It's just a chore. Play the playlists over and over and over and over and over again. Get the correct kills and collect the correct orbs well into the hundreds in quantity. That's not fun. That's boring. Somehow, you made it worst than last year. Hell, at least in the last year we could actually earn cosmetics to go along with our playing. This needed to be simplified and it needed to be fun. Or, at the very least, not actually feel like a grind. Let me see if I can make this better: Get your Green Armor set after you complete your first EAZ run. Green Armor: Helmet - Complete 5 Solstice Bounties. Arms - Complete two Daily Challenges. Chest - Complete 10 Public Events anywhere in the system. Legs - Complete 5 Heroic Strikes. Class Item - Complete 10 Patrols anywhere in the system. Meditate to get your Blue Armor set. Blue Armor: Helmet - Open 10 Solstice Packages. Arms - Complete two weekly challenges. Chest - Complete a Heroic Public Event on each destination. Legs - Complete 10 Crucible/Gambit matches. Class Item - Complete a Lost Sector on each destination. Meditate to get your Purple Armor set. Purple Armor: Helmet - Defeat 30 EAZ Mini-bosses. Arms - Complete a Nightfall strike as a Fireteam of 3. Chest - Get 50 kills with Subclass Abilities on each Subclass. Legs - Reach 50 points by defeating Opposing Guardians (Kills worth 2 points. Assists worth 1.) Class Item - Collect 50 of each Elemental Orb. Meditate once more to have your Armor masterworked. ---- I mean, it's not perfect but it's better than what Bungie has players doing. It would be faster, yes, but this is the end of the year, anyways. Why not just make it simple and fun? Remove a little bit of that grind-y feel. It shouldn't feel like a chore. It should feel like natural progression as we play normally. You might be asking, "Well, that defeats the purpose of the EAZ having so few things using it, doesn't it?" Yeah, if that's how I would have set-up the EAZ. I would have put the Ornamental Glows for the armor in the Solstice Packages you earn playing EAZ and I would have added a couple Shaders in there, too. Plus, a few, far more rare, items you can only earn playing in the EAZ during the event like a special Ship, Sparrow, Ghost Shell and Emblem. There, now the event doesn't feel like a total grind you have to go out of your way to complete, you can mostly just play as you would normally, and you would have extra things to earn playing the new EAZ.

  • The armor isn't the problem imo, it's the lack of anything else. No revamped story missions, no new rewards other then that stupid sparrow, and no new weapons to obtain AND NO NEW LORE GOD DAMMIT BUNGIE

  • Maybe I'd actually play it and even grind for the armor if they had done it this way, but alas, I'm not touching Crucible, not even with a 10 foot pole.

    • Wow... It's kinda amazing how many new comments and threads are made in these forums. Honestly, good to see players being vocal about ongoing issues with this game. Too much of a grind and not enough fun. Plus, not enough content. I could lose myself for hours in a game like Skyrim but get bored of D2 in minutes. There's just no meaningful progression. Ever.

      • None of your alternative options are “fun” either. Just say you want everything to be easier to get within the hour of release and keep it moving 🙄

        • None of these changes are more fun, they’re just easier.

          • Ok, so I do have to say that while your suggestion for the green-blue-purple gear is much better, I believe the masterworks should stay the way they are.
